Everyone is making a fuss over thisThe ladies of the view were all cool with him from what I can tell especially Rosie and what's her name sitting on Danny's left (I forget names). The only person acting cold and like she had a problem was Barbara. But Grandma has a prblem with everything. She's so crotchety. He was drunk. He said so. He said he'd been partying with Clooney all night and hadn't slept yet. Fine. Not a good idea to let Clooney talk you into partying all night long when you got to be somewhere in the morning but whatever. But most importantly he didn't do a Mel Gibson or a Micheal Richards. He was not belligerent. No racist/sexist/Anti-Semitic demons flew out of his mouth. He was funny and friendly. That was about it. What do you guys think? I don't know what the movie is he has coming out. Sounds like a Christmas thing. ETA:Video says "uncensored" but 1)it is censored - they block out when he says "numbnuts" (FCC in full effect) 2)he doesn't swear or say anything obscene so it's safe to listen to.

Yeah, I have no idea why it's such a big deal........it was funny....kind of uncomfortable to watch. But certainly not worthy of the press it's getting. People act weird when they are drunk/hung over. So what.

I think people are into the celebrities-are-falling-apart thing lately. Mel, Kramer, Lilo - it's easy to cite DD as another example.
I don't think it's a big deal either. Robin Williams has certainly been much weirder and over-the-top in interviews. So he was drunk! I think it's funny to catch those glimpses of unscripted, unrehearsed celebs.

I think it's funny to catch those glimpses of unscripted, unrehearsed celebs. Glad you guys have wondered what the fuss is about also. I think the reason people are getting all upset and blowing it out of proprtion is because he's not a big fangirl of The President. He had the nerve to call him numbnuts and suggest that he's wrong about the war. Plenty of sober people are accusing George Bush of being intellectually challenged and of being worng about the war and a whole lot more. People make fun of him all the time. Somehow I think this is what the people up in arms find unacceptable. That he called him numbnuts. I'm sorry but I can not see it at all in the same league as Michael Richards saying he wanted to lynch a black audience member while throwing the N-word and Mel Gibson saying the Jews are the cause of all wars in history and Jews are evil (or whatever vitriol) and turning to a female arresting police officer with the dismissive "sugartits" comment. Plus Mel was drunk driving. I don't even know how he could get lumped in with Lilo, Britney or Paris. He didn't show his crotch and he is not known to be regularly showing up everywhere drunk all the time. This is the first and only time anyone's seen him tipsy. And he didn't do or say anything outrageous or get in a fight with Jessica Biel or pour a drink over anybody or call his friend George Clooney a bitch or a firecrotch after the party was over. The only confession he had to make was that he got it on in the Lincoln bedroom once....with his wife. Nothing scandalous in that. In fact I think it's quite sweet. Aw! My two cents.

That's exactly it. He made fun of the President. If he hadn't said anything about ole George W., I doubt it would have been more than a blip on the celebrity news wires. It was funny and it was no big deal. I think the people who are decrying it are tight asses. Yes, he was drunk and sleep deprived. Of course, that's extremely unprofessional. But he didn't go into a racist rant and the hostesses seemed amused by him. I think the whole thing was blown out of proportion.

I thought he was funny on The View, he had me laughing. I guess I still have a lot of goodwill leftover from his Taxi days as I used to love that show in junior high. He is somebody who made it on talent and smarts because obviously he is not a run of the mill hearthrob. Add in his long marriage to Rhea and that made him seem like a good guy to me.

WHEW! Nice to see that this time the sleb in question didn't say something ugly or racist or mean. Man, this makes me like Mr. DeVito more. I can even forgive him being drunk.

According to a poster on TVwP he had a long affair with a masseuse that he met on a film set. Someone else then posted that they had seen him cheating on his wife quite openly at a NY hotel.
Though who knows how accurate postes like those are.

I guess I'm in the minority. I thought he acted like a shameless idiot. A complete disgrace. I also don't think "he didn't say anything racist" excuses his behavior. If that makes me a tightass, then I'm a proud tightass.

If that makes me a tightass, then I'm a proud tightass. I don't think it was the brightest idea to go on TV still drunk after a party. But people comparing him to drunk driving ranting Mel Gibson and KKKramer and turning this into the DeVito-gate scandal doesn't much sense to me.
