The only movie I can think of her's that I still like is Sleeping With the Enemy. Otherwise, I cannot stand her. Which is funny, because when I was thirteen, she was my all time favorite actress.

I feel about the same as you. When I was a kid and saw "Steel Magnolias" I thought she was so beautiful and I loved her. Now I think she is fugleeee! , and stupid acting, especially at awards shows. It erked me when she called the conductor "stick Man".

I've seen her look pretty a few times in the past, but most of the time I think she's on the plain side. Looked crappy in Ocean's 12 and her People mag cover with the twins.

I think she's an okay actress, but I also think she looks like she is related to Mr. Ed. When she unhinges her jaw, opens her huge mouth, and brays like a donkey, I'm put off. She must have given Britney lessons.
The pics of her and the brand new, oddly-named babies (remember the heinous Pocahontas braids?) caused brain damage to millions.
I am grateful that she doesn't appear in the tabs all the time anymore. Here's praying she goes the way of Meg Ryan.

You know, I used to love her. I actually still love the movie Notting Hill (yeah, yank my cool card now), but in recent years it's become clear that she really and truly thinks she's the best thing since sliced bread. I find her incredibly full of herself.
That said, she doesn't seem like a raging asshole or anything. I'd probably go see one of her movies if it looked interesting.

I might as well toss my card out too, because I love Notting Hill - though mostly for Hugh Grant and his circle of friends in that movie.
But I agree about the other bit - she does seem rather full of herself, and that's probably why she thinks it's perfectly okay to treat "underlings" (wait staff, store clerks) like garbage. I think even Benjamin Bratt said something to that effect after they broke up. He didn't flat out say it (I don't think) but he basically said that her fame had gone to her head.
As far as her looks go - I think she can look absolutely beautiful, and I think she can also just as easily look like crap. That seems to be common with people who have unusual features - like Uma Thurman. Sometimes she's gorgeous, others she's just strange looking.
Perfect example with Julia - the last two movies I saw her in, Closer and Ocean's 12. I thought she looked great in Closer (although she was playing a very ugly-hearted person) and she looked terrible in O12.

I agree that she looked horrible in Ocean's 11 -- She looked painfully gaunt. It was ironic because the camera was lovingly eating her up in a way that was supposed to be making the audience swoon. On the other hand, the other day I caught a little of Sleeping With the Enemy and she looked fresh-faced and very pretty. I don't know if she had quite reached her current level of mega-fame at that point, but she didn't have that aura of "I'm! Julia! Roberts!" about her.

I used to love her. Especially with her being a Georgia gal and all, but after she dumped Benjamin and the whole A Low Vera thing, I was done with her. The fame has gotten to her head, and while she may not actively famewhore, when she's does, it makes my teeth grate. Oh, well... she said she was taking a break to raise her kids, and I hope it's an extended one.

Break's over! I don't know how I feel about this. On the one hand, I have to give props to a film actor who take on a stage role. It's not the easiest thing to do, and most theatre critics will be eagerly licking their chops to give Julia a bad review. On the other hand...why not try a smaller venue to re-enter stage work (if she ever did theatre at all before she did films)? And she's taking on a role originated by the delightful Patricia Clarkson. Dem's some big shoes to fill.
