Yeah, she's 48. She will be 49 later this year.
And I agree - if she's had any work done, it is subtle and she still looks like a human being. I do think the fact that she has a little more meat on her bones than a lot of ladies in Hollywood helps (that whole "choosing your face over your ass" thing). Of course, she's Julia Roberts and it doesn't matter if she isn't a sample size - designers will actually cater to her (unlike Bryce Dallas Howard buying stuff off the rack for her fat-only-by-fashion-industry-standards-ass).
And yes, I agree that it is nice that she only pops up when she's got projects to promote. TAKE NOTES, GWYNETH.

Julia has never been afraid to disappear for awhile. She disappeared for two years during her peak years in the early 90s. If not for the Internet and self promotion through social media, Goop would have faded into obscurity not too long after her 1999 peak. This is why in my mind, she really is the equivalent to the Kardashians. I like to think of her as the joke of Hollywood that only she isn't in on. May not be true and mean of me, but it makes me feel better to think that.

Good on Julia for choosing a gorgeous gown, and for navigating the red carpet steps barefoot. Why should the women attending Cannes be dictated to A) wear giant heels and B) not wear flats? I'd love to see an actress/director/etc. show up on the Cannes red carpet one day wearing pink fluffy house slippers.
As far as Amal? Absolutely lovely dress, for sure, and she wore it well. But if anyone thinks that the potential wardrobe malfunction wasn't planned, I have a swamp in Phoenix to sell you. She's appeared on enough red carpets by now to know that a chiffon skirted dress with a slit, plus any breeze, means you either need to hold the skirt, or have weights sewn into the hem. And don't have the dress slit up to the happy place.

And don't have the dress slit up to the happy place. Her problem seemed to stem from the skirt being too long and getting caught on her shoes. I don't understand how celebs wear anything that pools on the ground like that. See Posh's wide legged pants, Blake's red jumpsuit, Amal's dress. Julia's skimmed the ground, which seems how it should be- beautiful, doesn't look 'too short' and doesn't get filthy and/ or trip you up.

Julia's got 10 years on Amal and looks 10 years younger. I think Julia looks great.
Pretty Woman is still in my top 10. That's all I got.

Julia will star in a TV adaptation of "Today Will Be Different" by Maria Semple. Hmmm. I didn't like that book as much as the previous one ("Where'd You Go Bernadette"), but I think Julia would be pretty good as Eleanor.

(way back on Page 5) Happy 50th to Julia Julia Julia! Despite her (alleged) attitude issues with people, I still love her and think she is one of the great Movie Stars. Happy Birthday!!!

She’s been making the talk show rounds lately (I think she’s promoting a movie I don’t care about). She looks great. She may be an awful person, but she’s aging gracefully in a way that looks pretty natural.

Yeah, she may be a terrible person in real life (A Low Vera and how dare you not step aside when a Hollywood star wants your husband for her own) but I like her as an actress.

Her new film is called Wonder--it's about a boy with a disfiguring facial defect entering the public school system and facing the reactions of strangers to his appearance. Julia plays his mom.
Not the biggest Julia fan, but our special-needs girls/moms group has had this movie on our must-see list ever since it went into production. Most of our girls have read the book, and ds3 absolutely loved it. We've already planned a mother/daughter trip to the theater when it opens.
