My husband and I can't stand her voice...it's like nails on a chalkboard for us. I hate how breathy she gets and how she pauses for 5 minutes in between sentences. Argh. She makes the John Tesh show, which runs on the other soft rock station in my area, sound like friggin Masterpiece Theater.

Every so often, I'll happen upon her show in the car radio, and I'll know I must not listen, for surely I will fall asleep behind the wheel.
But I'm glad you guys listen, 'cause this shit is funny!

I remember once I came across her taking a call from someone whose was struggling to conceive with his wife, and he asked for a song for his wife, and Delilah played Bonnie Raitt's "Nick of Time" and I thought, has she ever listened to this song??? The woman was probably even more depressed after that. I haven't heard the show in a long time, but I seem to recall that she alternated between repetitively playing certain go-to songs and occasionally playing something wildly inappropriate.

She's an idiot, but sometimes I listen to her show to mock her and her cheesy, awful musical selections.

My boyfriend and I used to listen to her on purpose. We came up with a backstory for her, the short version of which is that she is always drunk while on the air and only plays songs she used to listen to while skating at the roller rink.
A few years ago I came across a CD of hers at a Borders or someplace and just about freaked out, forcing my boyfriend to look at it and know that it existed.

Doesn't she have a bunch of kids, or did I imagine that?
One time I was driving late at night, and some woman called in to her program telling how she'd had a baby but had never really "connected" with it as a mother. So she met some woman at the grocery store who loved her baby and was telling her how she couldn't have children. Well, the woman with the baby went home, thought about it, and decided that God had meant for her to give her baby to the woman at the grocery store. So she did. I have no words. I thought I was delirious from lack of sleep or something, but the woman seriously said that, and Delilah acted like it was the most natural thing in the world, and then played a song for her. Yes, it's so lovely to give your baby away at the supermarket!

I'm guessing that was a fake story that someone sent in on a bet to see if she'd fall for it.
I confess I used to like her back when I was in high school, and used to listen to the soft rock stations while I was sleeping, as her voice helped me to go to sleep. After a while though, she started to grate.
And I HATE that song she plays at the end of her show-what was it, "Close your eyes I'm back again...blah blah blah". Does she still play that?

I am SO GLAD that you started this thread!
I have listened to Delilah since college- not because I was a huge fan of hers, per se, but because I am a big soft rock music fan, and around here, there are only two good soft rock stations- one out of Huntsville and one out of Nashville- and they both play her show. There are so many cheesy romantic good songs out there, it always amazes me that she will play the same songs over and over and over again. But- when I was in college and emotional and pining over some doofus- I would get in my car and drive around and listen to her show while I was being all sad and junk.
So, since I have been listening for so long, I have gleaned some interesting info over the years. For awhile, she was all Yay Adoption! and adopted at least 2 kids. She has been married 3 times- maybe more. She used to go on and on and on about the hubby, then I stopped listening for awhile, I think because I was not commuting at night anymore, and the next time I turn on her show, she is divorced. I think she had some substance abuse problems and possibly one of the exes abused her? But that seemed to be quite awhile ago.
As much as she annoys me, I think her producer Janie annoys me even more. And I always wondered where her mess of kids were while she was on the radio every night. Whatever the case, I hope the discussion continues because she is ripe for snark!

I have never heard of this woman until this thread. She sounds cheesetastically awesome. (Or would that be awesomely cheesetastic?) I had to check out her affiliates to find out why, and she's not on in the Detroit area. We have Alan Almond, host of Pillow Talk, on WNIC instead.

I confess I used to like her back when I was in high school, and used to listen to the soft rock stations while I was sleeping, as her voice helped me to go to sleep. After a while though, she started to grate. The first time I ever heard her I was 16 and I was really upset about something and it was raining outside, so I was in the mood for her schtick and I just thought she was saying some of the sweetest things I've ever heard with all of her "Do you have love on your mind tonight? ... Is there someone special in your heart? ... Do you miss somebody?" lines. So I started listening to her fairly regularly, but then after a month or so I was just like "What the fuck am I listening to!?". I think it was because most of the callers seemed kinda trashy and I realized that I did not want to be one. of. them. Like, there's a lot of complaining about how shotgun weddings didn't work out and things such as that. And I'd say that about 30-40% of the men who call in sound like repressed homosexuals. "Oh! My girlfriend is thuper! Thanks for athsking! I just don't know why it's so hard to make our relationship work thsometimes!" Then Delilah plays "Turn Back Time" by Cher.
