Yeah, I don't see the humor either. It's just creepy.

I wondered all these years why the industry was making such a big deal of him. I knew nothing about him but thought a fuss was being made. I went to see Disturbia and was kind of impressed by him. I think what is working for him is not any hotness factor (although I realize some on this board find him attractive), but his every day, regular guy, accessible vibe is probably why he is believable. He is a really natural actor and you feel you are watching the guy down the street in your neighbourhood. That is an important quality to have in film. I can believe that a lot of guys who watch his films, especially Disturbia, would be able to relate to his regular guy-ness. And, Disturbia is really good. I was surprised. I did not expect much since it is a horror film, but it was different and creative. I also really liked the Asian guy in it. Very funny, convincing and also has that regular guy appeal that is relateable to a lot of teens. Regular guyness is code for he's ain't hot? Yuck! He has a fuckability factor of zero. Double yuck. If I want to see a "regular guy" i'll go walk down the block and pay the guy that pumps my gas the $10. He has no boxoffice juice. And he's got no BSD. Give us something instead of the third Mensch on the left. And finally, ain't nobody and I repeat nobody going to a movie because he's in it. He doesn't put people in the seats. He's an overrated self-promoter (in his mind he's greatness and hotness) Gummy, Troll like appearence and he's an ashole to boot. I'll pass. (And why do I feel like someone from his organization is working this site)

Hug it out!
I really want to see the Transformers movie, he isn't really the reason, but he's a nice bonus. From what I've always enjoyed his performances. He was a better part of Constantine. I'm super interested in seeing him in the Indiana Jones movies, I think he and Harrison Ford could play really well off each other.

Yeah, I don't see the humor either. It's just creepy. It's a parody of the last episode of the OC, apparently. The people on ONTD posted it and posted the original scene from the OC. I wouldn't have understood it, nor thought it was funny unless I had seen the original OC scene.

Yeah, it's very very close to an OC scene where one of the main characters is getting choked to death by his brother so his girlfriend shoots him and then it's all dramatic with that very same song and lots of slow motion and that idiotic thing that all CW shows seem to do where the person who's shot actually has to look at their bloody hand in order to realize "Hey, I've been shot" while the latest hipster song plays in the background. I thought it was hilarious but then I watch those shows all the time so it's funny as a parody of that.
Anyway, onto Shia--he's one of those actors that makes me realize how old I am. Because I'd never heard of the kid and now all of a sudden he's everywhere and I'd never even heard of Even Stevens or anything else he'd done. It's like he popped out of the ground just a few months ago to make me feel old and out of it.

How do you pronounce his last name? All's I think when I see his name is that it's "beef" in French spelled incorrectly. But, I was born and raised in Montreal and I work as an editor for a living, so...

OK, thanks mr. pancake and Jensational. If I had seen the original (sounds ridiculous) scene, I can see how that parody would be hilarious. With no background, though, it just came off as hideously creepy. See? I AM overly grumpy tonight.

People, let's not get personal here. If you don't like this guy, don't get snippy with those who do. You don't have to agree, but you DO have to be civil.
