I went to the first possible showing of Holes at the theater I worked at decked out in custom-made, holey white t-shirts with my friends mostly because a.) we were really bored but also because b.) we thought Shia LaBeouf was the hottest thing. I'm only a year older than him so I don't feel overly creepy admitting this.

I have no idea who this kid is, nor do I think he's hot or attractive, haven't read one single interview of him so can't comment on his personality, but I think he has the most interesting name in Hollywood, French reference to beef and all. Very unusual but still cool.

Hee, that's true. I like his name too. And I've read somewhere that his father once turned a gun on him while under the influence. Or am I confusing him with someone else now? I'm pretty sure it was in an article about him.

I used to pronounce his name as Shee-uh LaBoof. My sister always thought that was funny.

I remember reading his interview in that horrible Vanity Fair young Hollywood interview that his name translates to "thank God for beef." He could be pulling our legs, though.
If I have nothing else to do, I'll watch Even Stevens. He's a very decent adolescent actor, and seems to have a natural quality that will carry over (unlike, say, Raven Simone, who I am picking on because she was in that same magazine, and she will someday be overplaying the matron roles on Disney channel comedies because she has no sense of subtlety) into mainstream film. In the interviews I've read with him, he seems sort of like a more confident version of the actor who plays George Michael on Arrested Development. There's nothing terribly wrong with his attitude, and he doesn't agressively court attention, so as of today, I approve of him. If he's schtupping a Hilton in the near future, I reserve the right to renege on my approval.

I used to think I was the only person older than 12 watching Even Stevens. Funny. No, no, you weren't. My friends and I were probably about 16 or 17 when that show first came out, and none of us wanted to admit we watched it...but the truth slowly came out. And then we'd talk about it during English class. That was a great show. My only complaint was that it made Sacramento look a lot nicer than it really is. Just because Sac is in California does not mean there's a beach in town. I always liked Shia The Beef (that's what we called him too) and I think any arrogant vibes he's giving off are the sort of arrogant vibes that ALL boys in their early 20's give off. Hopefully he'll mature and grow out of it, but for now I'll reserve judgment until he's at least 25.

I actually do know a few females that were into TheBuff awhile back. Different strokes for different folks I guess. I don't know anything about his personality, although I've heard that he has a dark sense of humor. Even Stevens was pretty funny.

Do we know that the stuff he's saying about his terrible childhood is true? I remember reading an article in Entertainment Weekly, maybe a couple years ago, that had Shia talking about that, along with the fact that he was dirt poor (I think). The reporter talked to one of his agents or someone else close to him, and that person was bewildered and basically said the equivalent of, "That's bullshit." I'm paraphrasing from memory, of course, but this makes me think that Shia is not above exaggerating what he's gone through.
And there was some other report a few years ago of him getting arrested for pulling a knife while being high out of his mind, but I don't remember what mag it was in...could've been a much less reliable one, and so maybe that's not true.
