Still not an excuse to abuse others. Sorry.
On an unrelated note, FKA twigs is incredibly talented and deserves a listen.

That is too bad for her. She almost got away. I wish her and the baby the best. I hope they can be safe and happy. He is a bad guy and I don’t see him ever changing.

I'm worried for her. He's a piece of shit and I don't believe for a second he's changed.

Based on the receipts he has provided in his email to Olivia Wilde (denying that he was fired or her narrative), it does appear that Ms Wilde has been sketchy with the truth. The attachments include a video from her trying to jovially coax him back, and a text message from her thanking him for his honesty in saying no during their meeting, and expressing sadness that he wouldn’t be in the role.
Based on these it does seem that Wilde was trying to push a narrative of this strong nurturing female director who took the moral high ground by firing a problematic actor, when the truth seems to be that said actor quit, and she tried unsuccessfully to coax him back. Both his email and the attachments he shared of texts and videos by her have some pretentious mutual tongue bath word salads. At core though it does seem she tried to retrospectively take advantage of his bad reputation and the current social climate for some activist cache. That’s pretty sucky.

I took most notice of how she talked about Florence Pugh during her phone call with Shia trying to convince him to stay on. She said Florence needed a wake-up call and needed to "commit her heart and mind" to it. She was impugning Florence's professionalism and commitment, and that's the first time I've heard someone do that. Shia is claiming it was about lack of rehearsal time, and Florence is very in-demand right now, so I guess the implication is that she was too busy? "Miss Flo" reminds me of Kate Winslet circa 1996 in many ways. One of those ways is that she has a very devoted group of fans for whom she can do no wrong and unlike early-year Winslet's fans, they have a lot of social media outlets on which to express themselves. So Olivia is playing with fire, and she's already got her hands full with the Harry Styles fans. Somebody said a while ago on Deux Moi that they attended a test screening of this movie and all of the behind-the-scenes drama that is getting so much attention is distracting people from discussing how much a dud the movie is.

Two things can be true at once: Olivia is playing fast and loose with what happened with Shia leading DWD and using it to push the narrative that she’s a director who goes to bat for her female actors, and Shia is an abusive asshole and if Florence felt unsafe around him it’s perfectly understandable.
None of this makes me inclined to give Shia any passes, that’s for sure.

None of this makes me inclined to give Shia any passes, that’s for sure. All I know about this film is that she's directing, and it stars Harry Styles and Florence Pugh. And a few weeks back, Florence was in the news for reportedly criticizing to friends the way Olivia started up with Harry before breaking up with Jason. Today, I see this story about Shia and a footnote to the story is that she's not happy with Florence either. Oh, and right before she won her custody case, she was talking about moving her kids to UK, and right after she won, she starts talking all over the place, but in oblique terms, about Jason being a bad guy and that the way he served her (onstage at some presser) was deliberately cruel. I don't seek out any info about her, but I've seen all this over the past few months and it feels calculated as hell.

Idc about the movie or the people involved, but it's fascinating from a PR perspective that Wilde set herself on fire like this. A totally unforced error. I guess she thought she'd get away with her narrative since LaBeouf has been quiet so far.
But she styled herself a feminist icon who fired him to protect Pugh in a big trade publication interview. All the while knowing that he has hard evidence that contradicts her. Did she think none of this would ever come out? Now it's clear why Pugh distances herself from the film, Wilde created a hostile work environment for her and then tried to gaslight and manipulate her into doing promo and making herself look good. Yikes.

And a few weeks back, Florence was in the news for criticizing the way Olivia started up with Harry before breaking up with Jason. Florence never did/said that--that's conjecture/a rumor. She hasn't said anything publicly about OW at all, which is what has started the rumors that there's bad blood there.
