I dunno...I kinda feel he's been irrelevant for years now. Can someone PLEASE explain to me what it means for an actor to be "relevant" or "irrelevant?" I understand it with authors, directors, artists, etc., but how exactly is an actor "relevant" or "irrelevant?" To me it seems that they show up and either do a good job or a bad job or maybe a mediocre job. Sorry. Sigh. I just hear the word "relevant" get tossed around to the point where I don't even get what it means anymore. No offense, MrsCatHead! This is an honest question! (And, yes, I'm getting the idea that if someone doesn't like a particular actor, "not relevant" is the phrase to drag out.) But to be on topic, kind of... In the Fifth Element, Chris Tucker's character was entertaining for about 5 minutes, then quickly became insufferable. I loved the way Bruce Willis' character (or maybe Bruce Willis himself?) eventaully just simply ignored him.

Oh lordie... I loves me some Bruce Willis. Way back when he used to have a bulletin board on his website; he and his kids used to post on it. It was so cool to get that kind of interaction. His nick on the bb was beedub.

Bonsai, I translate 'irrelevant' as "there are other people who can do what you do better and cheaper" or "it isn't worth putting up with your giant ego and obnoxious demands/behavior in order to get your dubious talents."

My ex-aesthetician used to be in charge of his epidermal upkeep in Idaho. She said he was really obnoxious, but I didn't press her for details. That's all I got.

raqs, that's really cool... I love stars who aren't afraid of the 'net. Ben Affleck used to have a board and people would post questions and he'd answer whichever ones caught his interest, it was a totally low key thing. It was interesting reading his breakdown of how much a movie star nets of his bajillion dollar paycheck after everyone's had their bite.
I love me some unexplainable Bruce, too. Stop being obnoxious to aestheticians, B-dub!

Meh. His smirk is way too annoying. I am convinced that he only hangs around Ashmi (Demton?) to participate in their publicity and because he's perplexed or angry or whatever that Demi refused to be his post-divorce Idaho bootycall and married someone else.

I only liked him in The Sixth Sense. I LOATHED Moonlighting and always thought that's what he was like in real life.

Relevant vs. irrelevent to me means, "can no longer successfully open a movie" and therefore is overlooked when a role he might have once been offered first is now offered to someone else. So...once relevant, now not so much.

I have a lot of love for Bruce and I don't quite know why. I mean, the Die Hard movies are pretty awesome and he has done some very nice work but I don't get why I just always root for him. It isn't because I think he is a great guy because he seems like a smarmy dude with a huge ego and it isn't because of his career (although he has made some amazing films). Maybe it is because whenever he does his "serious" films he doesn't seem to be Oscar-baiting, nor does he seem to be pissed that he hasn't been recognized by the Academy, he just seems to be working with talented directors or whatever. I think he just really likes his job and his life and doesn't take anything too seriously.
I also like that he works so well with kids. He has a way of acting in films with them that isn't pandering to the kid AND it allows the child actors to shine (if they are able).
I, too am curious to see how Die Hard 4 pans out in the box office. There are a lot of must-see sequels (Spidey, Pirates, Shrek) I wonder if there is room for something like Die Hard. If it sucks... well whatever but if it is a decent movie but has dark undertones it might suffer in the way that Miami Vice did (seriously - it was a good movie!) because people seem to want to see colorful, mindless action films in the summer not dark, brooding ones. I do think a lot of people will line up to see another Die Hard film and I think that it has the potential to be one of the surprise hits of the summer.
