Makes sense to me, snarkblossom. I can think of lots of actors that fall into that category, and you explained it perfectly, IMO.

I think he's underrated as an actor. I wonder why he mostly sticks to action films. Judging from Pulp Fiction, he can do other roles.

I think so, too. And Bruce in his white t-shirt in Pulp Fiction was one of the sexiest things evah.
That said, there are too many stories of him being a dick irl.

Remember the Miami VMA's? Remember Bruce dancing with P. Diddy?
That's a great moment of television.

Umm.... Ok. *takes deep breath* I adored Moonlighting and Bruce was TOTALLY my pin-up guy when I was in Jr. High. [small voice] I even have a vinyl copy of The Return of Bruno. [/sm]
He seems to be one of THOSE guys. Like, you know they are smarmy and have issues, but they are SO charming and funny that it kind of overrides your jerk-dar. I have always liked him and I think he is a good actor that has made some interesting choices with his career. He and Brad Pitt will always get a lifetime pass from me for 12 Monkeys, partially because they both played their characters to a tee, and partially because they both had the courage to work with Terry Gilliam, who is incredibly talented, but it takes a total risk-taker to work with him because he is out. there.

That picture of him, Demi and Ashton for Vanity Fair is cree-py to say the least. I don't mind that he has a good relationship with Ashton and they are one big family, but dude, posing in pictures with your ex-wife while her new husband is holding her in his lap is pathetic and lame. Especially since he hasn't had a serious relationship with anyone ever since they broke up.
I agree with everybody else that he kicks ass as an actor and I generally enjoy seeing him on screen. When I was younger, I used to always get him confused with Mickey Rourke for some reason. They were both hot hot hot at the time, did mainly action movies and looked alike. Fortunately, Bruce didn't butcher himself up like Mickey and is still sexy at 50. Much sexier than Ashton I think.

I dont think they are really that buddy buddy as they like to say they are. I think it is for publicity and that they will get more press by being the exception to the rule and putting out there that they are so happy being divorced from each other. Just a facade.

My brother was actually Bruce's stand in back in the late 80's, because he looked so much like him at that time. I think the first time I realized Bruce had real acting chops was when I saw him in a movie with Demi called "Mortal Thoughts" or something like that. He nailed the north Jersey working joe to a T.
I forget the name of the movie, but it was pretty recent movie about the slaughter in Africa. It was a brutal movie and Bruce's character didn't say much, but man, he was good.
And he has an outlook and relationship with his ex much like I do with mine, so what they are doing seems completely normal to me.
Again, love me some Bruce. I just like the guy.

I'm pretty convinced tht, IRL, he's a grade-A jerk who takes himself way too seriously, (you know who ELSE makes crappy vanity records, Bruce? Russell Crowe, that's who. Yuck) and is bordering on stalker creepy with the ex and her boy-husband, but I still kinda like him.
It might be the voice. It is teh sex.

Bruce gets a pass from me because of his portrayal of David Addison on Moonlighting.
That is all.
