There was a lot of hype about Christensen around the time Traffic came out. Then I saw her in a few movies but not headlining, and now I never hear of her. She does totally look like Julia Stiles! (another who's fashioned a career out of thin air, imo)

Benny and the Jets was on the radio today, which led to a discussion with my daughter about 27 Dresses, which led to what ever happened to Katherine Heigl? The last thing we remembered her in was One for the Money, which we didn't think was that bad. That just came out back at the end of January so it hasn't been too long since she had anything out. That said her next movie doesn't come out until April. I think she's decent enough actress and comes across as very "real" and relatable onscreen but she is horrible at being famous/a movie star - which you kinda need to be when your bread and butter is rom-coms.

I love Erika on Parenthood. She's my favourite Braverman sibling.

Katherine could kill it on the red carpet with her figure and natural beauty. She's the opposite of someone like Anne Hathaway, who has some (IMO) odd-ish features to work with, yet always looks impeccably dressed and groomed.
That said, it bothers me a little bit as a feminist that so much of being a female celebrity comes down to red carpet "performance".
edited to add that I would still kill to look like Anne Hathaway, LOL

I had no idea about the Nyquil commercial either. That's pretty sad. I'm surprised she couldn't at least get a low level endorsement deal overseas. Until reading that article, I didn't realize how big of an influence her mother was on her bad reputation. It all makes much more sense now. Yes, she made obnoxious comments but lots of celebrities have. It seems like the real issue is that she and her mother got too big for their britches. The Emmy plus "Knocked Up" really went to their heads. In order to get away with that level of diva behavior you need to have more established success behind you and/or a massive PR machine that drives interest outside of your projects. She's never seemed interested in the latter so she really screwed herself by not understanding her true position in the industry and behaving unprofessionally. Going back to TV is a good idea. And while I don't blame Shonda Rhimes for not embracing the idea of an Izzie return, it'd be nice if she did make an appearance for the show's swan song (whenever that is) so hopefully they remain open to that at least.

I knew about the Nyquil, but only after I had seen it a few times. I was shocked she deigned to do it, but girl gotta make a living.

What's embarrassing about the Nyquil commercial is that it's not a celebrity endorsement of Nyquil, it's just Heigl acting in a Nyquil commercial like she's a nobody.

She was making $12 million a picture at one point, so she must be a spender if she's doing low rent commercials to make a buck now.
