Thanks for posting that article because as was mentioned it brought to light the part about Katherine's mother and her influence/involvement in all of this.
But what I don't understand is why even bother with the Nyquil commercial. I mean how much would it have even paid? She at least got $12 million for one film, so wouldn't she have enough in the bank already? Although I know that some celebrities go overboard with the spending and what not and bankruptcy. I guess I just don't get the Nyquil gig. Unless she is trying to come across as just normal like everyone else? I don't know. It just doesn't make sense to me.

There are so many celebs who are doing voiceover work in commercials. I hear Julia Roberts, Susan Sarandon, etc. all the time. I am surprised she couldn't find something like that. I'd be shocked if she is having money problems. She must still get residuals from Grey's Anatomy and possibly even Roswell. It's too bad that her career took a downturn. I like her in movies/tv shows and I like that she unabashedly did romcoms. So many actresses act embarrassed for being in romcoms. They aren't any worse than the bad action movies that male actors star in.

I know NyQuil did a run of commercials featuring athletes, like Apolo Ohno, that treated then like regular joes and weren't all "Hey! Look at this famous athlete using our product!" so maybe they were shooting for the same thing here.
Then again, those commercials ran during the Olympics, when it made sense to feature athletes. She could very well be reduced to doing commercial work for scale.

She was making $12 million a picture at one point, so she must be a spender if she's doing low rent commercials to make a buck now. The Real Estalker thinks she lost a little bit on real estate:

Two children + living like someone who assumed the $12 million dollar checks would keep rolling in + bad investments = Nyquil commercials. I definitely believe she needs the money and she's probably getting paid a lot more than a complete unknown would get. Her desire to go back to Grey's was probably money driven also.

I don't think I've seen her in anything but Knocked Up (decent) but I will always, always root for her. I admire the work she has done for animals and I'm impressed that she adopted a daughter with health issues. I really do wish her great success.
But Gwyneth can still suck it -- I haven't completely lost my mind.

What's embarrassing about the Nyquil commercial is that it's not a celebrity endorsement of Nyquil, it's just Heigl acting in a Nyquil commercial like she's a nobody. Totally. Drew Brees (who doesn't need the money, either) has done a series of Nyquil commercials, but it's made clear that it's someone popular in sports, even if you don't follow it and know who Drew is.

There's nothing likable about her and there's nothing admirable about somebody who makes a working environment toxic and unbearable or who treats people who are below her like shit just because she can or because her or her crazy momager think she's a big star.
If a trade pub like The Hollywood Reporter puts out a hit piece like this, it must mean she's pissed off ALL the wrong people. Hollywood is a small town after all.
It sounds like this TV show is her last shot in Hollywood. If this misses (and considering NBC's track record plus KH as a CIA agent - PLEASE) she's done.
It couldn't have happened to a nicer person too.

Her behavior sounds like someone who has taken certain good concepts - stand up for yourself, go out and get what you want, don't let anybody push you around, don't settle for less than you deserve, tell it like it is - to an extreme.
The first time I saw Heigl was when she was presenting at the Emmys and the announcer pronounced her name "High-jel" instead of "High-gul" and when she got to the microphone she corrected him. I remember there was a debate at the time between people who thought she should have just let it go, people who thought her response was totally justified and not a big deal, and people who thought it may have been justified, but she did it in a really snotty way.
I think that incident had a lot to with why people defended her for so many years - because she was criticized for doing something that in essence was not a big deal. But when you've got somebody who feels the need to "stand up for herself" 25 times a day and never lets anything go, that's not fun to deal with. And it sounds like she and her mother stopped being polite about it and just turned into greedy, abusive assholes.

I have to disagree. I do like the way she speaks her mind, although admittedly she can be pretty obnoxious about it.
Yes, this was unprofessional because she's supposed to support her coworkers and the movie they worked so hard on. But, well, she had a point. Knocked Up was being praised like crazy when it came out and KH brought some mainstream attention to the sexist nature that underlies most, if not all, of Judd Apatow's movies. His own unfiltered reaction to her comment was worse than hers IMO, but all anyone remembers is KH's betrayal of her castmates for speaking her mind.
Because when a woman points out sexism that means that she must be a spokeswoman for feminism at all times in everything that she does. Most importantly, she must not ever do anything that implies sexuality, even in a comedy, because that's...demeaning and unfeminist like.
I'm not disregarding all the negativity that surrounds her. I'm just saying that there is at least ONE thing to like about her and maybe a couple of others. She's has close friends, is raising two children and has a (seemingly) good marriage. Plus, she's a dog lover. I mean, she can't be that horrible of a person.
