“Mean girl” is overused and lazy, and has lost all meaning.

I agree that Carrie was an annoying character sometimes, but she was entertaining. I think a lot of tv characters I enjoy watching would be hella irritating in real life - Gilmore Girls, Friends, Seinfeld, Modern Family, the list goes on.
Maybe people idolized Carrie's life - designer clothes, great hair and figure, constantly going to parties and events, meeting celebrities, rich boyfriend, lots of sex with handsome guys, and a job that only required her to write one newspaper column a week.

I read that Cynthia Nixon also shared her condolences on Kim’s post and that Kim responded warmly to her... I think that’s pretty funny. I wouldn’t say I pick a side in this one, though. SJP can be annoying (or maybe my hatred of Carrie Bradshaw is the issue), but Kim has always seemed kooky. Maybe they just clash, like Bea Arthur and Betty White did. So many things from this post! The two main ones being- while I liked SATC when I first saw it as a teenager, when I rewatched as an adult, I could NOT believe that everyone idolized Carrie Bradshaw. She is easily to me, one of the least likeable protagonists of a show ever. Bea and Betty didn’t get along? This hurts my heart to know this. Rue didn't get along that well with her either according to her autobiography. Bea and Rue came from more of a theater background, whereas Betty had only ever been on TV, so their work methods kind of clashed. Plus Bea & Rue had already worked together on Maude and were friends, so they were a bit on the cliquey side. I think they all got along well enough eventually but it was a bit rough at the beginning.

For me personally, I don’t want a third movie. Yes, the second one sucked. The first was not great but I think some of that had to do with it being way too long. I guess for me, some things should just end. They’re in their fifties and sixties on the show and in real life. While there is nothing wrong with that, where can their stories go? I don’t want to see another minute of Carrie and Big keeping us guessing if they’ll ever be happy. Steve and Miranda and also Charlotte and Harry seemed to be pretty happy. I just think at this point in their lives, any storylines are going to be ridiculous or too dramatic and I don’t want to see either. Agreed. I think they've gone as far as they can go with the series, and it's time to let it end.

A few weeks ago, after going to see Mikhail Baryshnikov perform an awful one-man show reciting the poetry of Joseph Brodsky, I looked up the scene on youtube where Baryshnikov recites a Russian poem to Carrie. It was a Brodsky poem. Unlike the poetry I had to sit through, the SATC poem was very short, recited in English, and it was a pretty nice little poem.
Carrie acted like it was absolute torture to have to listen to that poem. (Bitch, you don't know torture until you've sat through 90 minutes of that in Russian!) And in response, she read a passage to him from Vogue about de la Renta's fall line. It was pretty absurd that the Barsyhnikov character found that shallow dumbass interesting.

Sex and the City, They're All Ghosts! Animated Sex and the City, possibly with talking raccoons. This can go on forever!
