Hmmm. I thought Roman was the French word for “disgusting pig rapist who flees to Europe to avoid jail time”. It's a very versatile word.

Damn man, and I liked her in Lord of the Rings. Well I’m done with her, anyone who defends that piece of shit can fuck right off.

She doesn't get called out enough IMO. I guess if you REALLY squint, you can sort of see the Woody Allen thing. I suppose people tell themselves Soon Yi was a TECHNICAL adult (never mind the creepy grooming and calling her at school), and I'm sure people tell themselves that the Dylan stuff was in the midst of a bitter custody battle and that Mia was crazy and jealous about Soon Yi. So, sure. I'll think you're scum, and lots of others will, but you'll get a pass for the most part from mainstream media and mainstream movie goers. But POLANSKI?! You name your son after this man, I would HOPE you would at least have done some research into what he did, and if you DID do research I don't know how you come out of that thinking he's anything other than total slime. I think most of these hollywood people don't really know any of the details, they just think "Oh, it was the 70's, it was different, and she's moved on! She forgives him! No biggie!" But if you read the report, no. He drugged her. She was crying, begging him to take her home, making up fake reasons for why she had to go home, but he continued until she gave up. Afterwards she was still crying. He RAPED raped a 13 year old. There is no squinting on this one. She needs to be asked about this in every.single.interview.

The defense these people always use for Woody is that he wasn't convicted of anything. I don't see how they can make such an excuse then defend Polanski who is not only convicted of his crimes, but is a fugitive from justice.

When the Woody Allen thing happened I was a young teenager, and basically your "really squinting" was my thought process at 14 or 15 when this happened--though I don't remember hearing the Dylan Farrow stories. Hell, even Roman Polanski I was like "well times were different, and maybe he was still reeling over the loss of his wife...". But I grew up, stopped being (such) an idiot, and my opinions changed. Now? I firmly believe Dylan Farrow, and I believe Roman Polanski should be jailed for RAPE. Not statutory rape, but rape.

Polanski was never even charged with statutory rape. He was charged with: rape by use of drugs, perversion, sodomy, lewd and lascivious act upon a child under 14, and furnishing a controlled substance to a minor.
He fed a little girl champagne and quaaludes that she didn't want and which made her disoriented and sick. Then he held her down and sodomized her as she cried, said no, and tried to get him to stop. It was a brutal crime.
And the story the media gave for decades was that an ambitious wannabe model who looked older than her age seduced Polanski in the hopes he would help her career. And it was the swinging 70s so having sex with young girl was considered ok at the time. All Polanski did wrong was not making sure she was 2-3 years older.
Even though Whoopi Goldberg is an idiot for saying that "it wasn't rape-rape" (as if there's real rape and not real) and she shouldn't have spoken out of her ass without doing any research, there was (and may still be) a widespread belief that Polanski committed statutory rape with a young girl who seduced him.

People keep comparing Blanchett to Streep, and even though I can see why the comparisons are made, I have never felt any warmth emanating from any of Cate's performances. Am I making sense? I get that both are technicaly flawless in many aspects of their craft, but Meryl is still capable (in my opinion) of radiating likeability through her characters. When I see Cate acting, all I see is an ice cold, detached virtuoso. She makes me admire her acting, but never like her caharacters. Meryl is a virtuoso who can actually make you care about the characters she plays.

I just watched a clip of her in the Hobbit and wow was she overdoing it there. Lay off chewing the scenery, please.

Her acting is 85% mannerisms and big accents. The two roles she won Oscars for (Aviator and Blue Jasmine) are both over the top scenery chewing. That would be cool in the 40s, but not now.
