I think that's just plain old American cheese! (Or "cheese product" as the manufacturers are legally obligated to label it.)

Government cheese always makes me think of this Robert Townsend stand up from the 80sIt starts at 4:00 mark if you don’t want to watch the whole thing. Although it’s worth watching it all, and will give that part more context.

Thanks, y'all. The closest Wahlburgers is in Myrtle Beach (S.C.), which is 3.5 hours away. Maybe I'll get there one day.
My personal guvmint cheese story (lol): For a very brief time when I was a kid, my parents and my granny, who lived next door, received these government food boxes. I remember the canned goods had stark white labels that only said what was in the can -- "Corn" "Green Beans." The cheese was in a big rectangular block and was sort of light yellow. It was certainly NOT the holy grail yellow cheese of 8-year-olds everywhere: Kraft American singles.* I remember I didn't eat much of it. Blech.
Mr. Tanyak calls my beloved Kraft singles "cheese food," which I guess it is. And yet, it annoys me.

My grandmother received government cheese and would give us blocks of it, which then lived in our freezer. I don't remember it being sliced--was it? I also remember it being more on the velveeta side of the cheese spectrum, flavor wise. We didn't dislike it, but it wasn't something we clamored for, either.

Freeze cheese, that’s a new one on me and my mother froze everything including mohair jumpers!

We never had Kraft singles when I was a kid, my mom would get American cheese from the deli counter or the farmer's market, but I vividly remember my disappointment when I finally got my hands on the fabled Kraft singles and it tasted like plastic. Also, this thread opened on page 1 for me and kicked off with someone reporting on Mark Wahlberg being in an M Night Shyamalan movie with Zooey Deschanel and John Leguizamo, which would be the utter piece of shit that was The Happening. Mark Wahlberg as a science teacher? Hilarious. He can be a good actor when he stays in his lane (which I guess involves less "acting" and more him just kinda being versions of himself), but science teacher with relationship issues is definitely not his lane.

I still intensely dislike him. He did commit a hate crime and blinded someone. A couple of years ago he tried to have his record expunged, so he could get a liquor licence. No amount of good movies is gonna erase that.

I was in college when Marky Mark hit the scene. I remember being in the university bookstore and wandering over to the non-academic book side and there was a new Marky Mark book out. I don't remember if it was an autobiography or a coffee table book of photography--I think it was more the latter, but I'm not sure. What I do remember is opening the book and seeing this on the inscription page: "I wanna dedicate this book to my dick." That has always stayed with me and I think of it with amazement when I see evidence of how successful he's become.

Yeah, I find him to be a pretty big asshole for the most part. I do love him in "Boogie Nights," though (one of my favorite movies, actually).
