Vicky Cristina Barcelona, out Aug. 29, tells the story of a typical male fantasy, a romantic threesome with two women.

Woody was asked if he would ever entertain the notion himself. He replied, “You know, it’s hard enough to get one person. In trying to figure out solutions in life, two actually tends to make it more complicated than one. The characters in this movie are able, the chemistry was right, and they’re able to handle the situation. But in real life, most of us petty people could never handle anything like that. It’s hard enough to get a relationship that can work out with one person, but with two, it becomes geometrically more fatal.”

Penelope looks gorgeous. She's getting rave reviews for her performance in Vicky Christina Barcelona as well. She is turning out to be quite a good actress.

She always was a good actress!

Hooking up with Cruise and getting the evil eye from Nicole Kidman got her 5 years worth of terrible publicity and made her career seem less than it ever was.

I think Penelope has always been a good actress in Spanish, but not as soon in English-speaking roles. Maybe because most of her concentration had to be on the words, rather than on her performance. Maybe now that she's more comfortable speaking English she's able to concentrate less on the words and more on the acting.

New candids of Penelope & Javier in Madrid.

The “Vanilla Sky” actress and her actor boyfriend Javier Bardem were spotted in Madrid, Spain over the weekend showing their support for the Spanish national soccer team.

And wouldn’t you know it? Spain won the 2008 European Championship Final 1-0 over Germany. It looks like having a little celebrity boost was just what they needed.

After the game, Cruz and Bardem went to a local bar to celebrate, with Javier even going so far as to paint his face with Spain’s official team colors.

Penelope is not pretty. I'm just not getting it. There are some camera angles, here and there, where she is stunning, but those are few and far between. She looks like she's not quite finished yet...like a embryo. Eyes too close together, mouth too close to the nose, no discernable bridge, flat forehead.....and those faces she pulls....

I can get the "Penelope can act", but I just think she's odd looking.....nothing wrong with that, I just don't get the "what a beautiful stunning woman" bit....*shrug*.....

New pics of Penelope on the set of Broken Embraces (July 8th, Madrid).

The 34-year-old actress will be teaming up with Nicole Kidman and Marion Cotillard on a musical number for the movie musical Nine. The trio will be singing a new song called Take It All.

Penelope will also be a singing a duet with Nicole Kidman, called Simple. The Spanish actress will be playing the seductive mistress, Carla, in the film.

Penélope on facing her fears: “I try not to run away from things because I’m scared of them. When you feel you have to say something to someone, and your heart starts going fast because it could be controversial, I always vote for saying it. With time, you get more at peace with it. I used to get very upset about it, and very angry at myself. But now, when it comes, I just send it away.”

Penélope on the celebrity gossip mill: “I think it’s disgusting. It’s dangerous and nasty, and bad for our society in so many ways. And it’s getting worse every day. It affects me directly, but I really believe that this culture of gossip affects our society on a much deeper level, on an ethical level. It’s what kids see and hear every day, and it will affect future generations in ways that we cannot even imagine.”

Penélope on future plans: “Right now I feel ready to do one movie every year or two. One that I really feel 100 percent excited about. And then dedicate the other time to other things. Living, you know, life.”

Penélope on staying abreast on film critic review of her work: “I try not to go on the Internet and read about myself. It’s a guaranteed way to get angry for no reason. You start looking at yourself from the outside, from the wrong place. And everything is out of proportion. The good things, the bad things - everything.”

Penélope on the celebrity entertainment shows in Spain: “In Spain these TV shows are on for maybe 17 hours a day. They are very cheap to make because they just have somebody running after people in the street with a camera, provoking them, insulting them. They’re just waiting for more and more drama, you know? Unless they have a dead body in front of them, it’s not enough. I mean, it is just beyond crazy and completely unacceptable.”

Penélope on adopting children: “It’s something that I’ve thought about a lot. But I don’t know. I feel like I still have a lot of time.”

Penélope on exposing her private life: “I never talk about my private life to journalists. Never. I have a total right to protect it and I never mess with that.”

Penélope on staying at the Sunset Marquis Hotel when she first moved to L.A.: “Many times I would pick up the phone and realize there was no one to call, because I didn’t have any friends. I cannot even look at those rooms now. I have a weird physical reaction. Everything comes back from those years.”
