She really, really doesn't seem like the sort of person who would want to come out wearing a really sexy, starletty gown.

Hideous hair, seriously hideous. That dress is way too plain, it looks like something you'd get at any bland department store in America. Maybe some better shoes or jewelry would have helped.

There is nothing wrong with the dress but it does seem a tad bit plain to wear to the Screen Actors Guild Awards. She does not seem the type to show up looking like Sienna Miller or something but there is a nice medium.

Obviously an actress should represent herself and her style, so maybe Ellen wouldn't have felt comfortable in something more flashy/glamourous. That said, something a bit more memorable would have been nice!

It's Zac Posen and I usually like his dresses but that one is rather unispired. I don't find it offensive or tacky like some of the other dresses that night.
It was her first red carpet outing so I will cut her some slack. I imagine playing it safe was probably high on her list rather than standing out - she doesn't seem the type who wants to draw attention to herself.
Hopefully she can find something a tad more glam for the oscars - should they go ahead.

Ellen's cute but it's been a non-stop series of boring black dresses for her this awards season. If the Oscars go on, I really hope she wears anything but black. Who does she think she is, Jennifer Aniston?

I really don't care for the corner-y sleeves -- they smack of 1982 shoulder pads. Ellen looks gorgeous, though -- what lovely skin!
