Just watched one of her videos on youtube and, yes, her voice is shockingly bad.
I only know who she is because of those celebrity blogs though.
With Britney, it seems like her fame exploded all over the place from the very beginning.
It also seemed like adults were somewhat fascinated with Britney as well as little girls.
But I kind of get the impression that Miley appeals only to little kids.
I'd be surprised if her career lasted as long as Britney's.
It also seems like she's confined a bit by talking about religion all the time. Well, I don't know if she talks about religion all the time but I usually hear about the Bible in conjunction with her name.
I know Britney was marketed as somewhat wholesome at the beginning of her career even though she was singing the provocative "Hit Me Baby One More Time" but I never got the impression that she was particularly pious. But this Miley kid seems very, very religious.

I think I'd compare her a bit more to Jessica Simpson at the beginning of her career - didn't she market herself as the good Christian girl at first? And I think that backfired on her - when she divorced Nick and started letting Johnny Knoxville lick her ass and was seen stumbling out of clubs looking completely wasted I think she lost a lot of fans who identified with her at first then found that her morals/standards didn't line up with their's anymore and it seems like she's been struggling ever since. Miley may run into the same problem if she ever decides to sow her wild oats.

When this show first came out I loathed it. I thought Miley just got the show because of her dad (she actually has a noticable speech impediment when she speaks and I just couldn't figure out why they'd choose someone like her to lead the show). I thought she was ugly and she couldn't sing very well.
But, I have now watched every single episode probably 10 times and I love it. It's sweet, the characters are likable, and Miley herself has won me over. I can't figure out why I thought she was ugly at first because now I don't see it at all.
I think it's nice to have a show where the characters love each other and get along. And, where there is no annoying little brother or sister who is a mad, evil genius. I think the boy that plays the older brother is quite funny, as are all of the supporting characters. Miley and her dad are cute together and you can tell they are very close.
Yes, she's super religious, but I don't think that's a bad thing. I think she's got parents and siblings who love her and will keep her in line, and I don't expect her to turn out badly at all.
Those pictures are innocent. However, she needs to learn now, before she becomes sexually active (hopefully!), to stop taking pictures! Or, at the very least, take control of all of them yourself. And never post pics on the internet.

It made me laugh that those pictures are considered "racy". All I know about Miley is I saw her episode on Oprah and she seemed like a very normal, likeable young teenager, which is weird given her insane success and popularity. I hope it stays that way and her family seems... alright. But you never know.

Completely agree with Ernestine. I think Mileys adorable, has enough talent to be entertaining (shes not Christina Aguilera and never will be, and isn't trying to be), and seems to have loving attentive parents who are guiding her well.
I think Hannah Montana is a great show too, we all enjoy it in this house. Then again, I love Suite Life too. Theyre the Saved By the Bell and Family Matters sitcoms for this generation of tweenagers.

Here's what I don't get--for every Christina A. there are dozens and dozens of these no-talent tween girls whacking us in the face every five minutes. The thing is, though, I wouldn't call Christina a benchmark for talented performers. She has a powerful voice, sure, but that's about it. But really, not everyone has to be a technically great singer, or even a good one. Some singers are just awful (Bono, for instance), but they have the charisma to pull it off. Topic: Miley's bland. She's one of the many without the charisma to pull off being a bad singer. And her whole 'virtuous' act is going to be her undoing.

I like her too so I'm rooting for her to buck the trend of Young Hollywood Downward spiraldom relatively unscathed. I have a soft spot for her show even though I think it's not good. The over acting doesn't bother me at this point because it's Disney and that seems to be a prerequisite.

My daughter loves her. I don't think she's a bad comedic actress, she has charisma for a girl so young.
Hopefully, fame and success won't ruin her, but at least one thing Billy Ray could teach her about is, how fame spits you out when it's done with you.

I predict that this girl will end up with the same behavioural issues as most of the others. Children simply cannot handle pressure above a certain level. The same thing happened to Michael Jackson, Danny Bonaduce, the Brady Bunch (ALL of them in some way or other), Lindsay, Britney, etc, etc. The problem isn't with the children themselves, but the constant glorification of their talent or abilities. Eventually they develop complexes, thinking that they are better than everyone else or that they are invincible or that the world simply can't go on without them.
We as a society need to stop thrusting children into the spotlight for financial gain. What the hell is Miley Cyrus doing performing in Times Square on New Year's Eve? Money. Um, I mean, to help her fans ring in the new year. Her tour sold out, so what do they do, they add new shows to get more money. Um, I mean, to please her fans.
Where's the cutoff? Where do they draw the line and say: Okay. She has a hit show, a hit album, a hit tour, hit merchandise, let's lay off her now. There is no line. It's funny how the actors' union has rigid on-set filming limits for children but there are no such rules elsewhere. I believe this child is being worked to the bone and it's only going to get worse when Disney and Daddy Achy-Breaky find another way to squeeze more money out of her - I mean to get her closer to her fans. She's on every morning show, everyone's hailing her as the next Britney or the next Hillary Duff or the next something. It's too much pressure.
