Yeah, Hotwing- I've been thinking that there should be some sort of requirement that once someone reaches a certain level of fame they should be required to go into regular counseling. It seems that so many celebs get to a point where they have everything they could possibly want, so they start looking for anything new. Which seems to make them particularly vulnerable to addiction and kooky pseudo -religions in order to find something new.
Don't know how this would be regulated, though.

Huh, I'd figure child-labor laws would cover the amount of time someone like Miley would be allowed to perform.
But, I guess when there's enough money involved, you can circumvent that.

Wasn't there an article or radio interview posted somewhere which suggested that Miley may in fact be suffering from the trappings of fame?

We caught her on Dick Clark's NYE thing last night. It was not good. ITA with whoever said she's bland - she's perfect for Disney, as far as being small and cute and non-offensive or controversial or whatever. But I don't think she can sing at ALL, and I honestly don't think she has the personality to cover for that. I've been trying to decide if I would have liked her if she were around 15-20 years ago, and I just don't think I would. She can't sing (at least, not live), she is probably the least talented actor on her show, and she's boring. Say what you want about NKOTB and whoever else I was into back in the day, but they could carry a tune, and had personality. And "Personality goes a long way..."

Yeah, I don't think I'm a snob; I liked Debbie Gibson and Tiffany when I was young, for goodness sake! I can see the appeal of that High School Musical stuff, even if I don't care for it. Or even Hillary Duff. But Miley Cyrus? Nope. Even her name annoys.

Not about her, but I really want to kick the Jonas brother's asses. Mainly the one in the top hat from last night. Mainly BECAUSE of the top hat.

Hannah Montana is the biggest rip-off of Jem ever. She's Jem for this generation except without the awesomely bad '80s clothes and pink hair.
What the fuck kind of a name is "Miley"? I know it comes from her nickname being "Smiley" but it sounds so stupid.

Miley is a dumb name and, unfortunately, it's going mainstream. I met a baby Miley at a Xmas party this year. And Rev Run of Run DMC just named his new daughter Miley. I can only assume his older children watch the show and suggested it.
The only upside is that if Miley Cyrus decides she wants to dump show biz, she has a real name she can use.

Is Miley a Southern name? I ask because I've never thought twice about it. It's no "Jennifer" or "Amanda" but I hear it every now and then. I guess I'm used to names like Miley. I grew up with a Lolly and my grandma is Ella Mae....seriously!

Miley isn't a name. It's a nickname of her nickname ("Smiley"). Her real name is Destiny. Which also sucks, but with her bemulleted parentage she didn't have much of a chance.
