Question: How far along was she when she announced to OK! that she was pregnant?

About 3 months, I guess. The announcement was made in December.

Why didn't the little twit wait until the last possible second to announce? She could have made some more eipsodes of her show and made a few more bucks (which I'm sure she could use right now).

Because the last season of the show was already in the can, and because Momma Lynn needed to make sure to get paid for her exclu$$$ive story before the news leaked out by other means.

Regarding the "Maddie" name... Years ago I dated a guy from North Carolina named Harry. I asked him if his full name was Harold. He laughed and said "No, it's just Harry. I'm from North Carolina! I know people who have Billy or Susie on their birth certificates!" So I guess it's a regional thing.
Someone mentioned the story of the gang of teenaged girls all from a high school in Massachusetts who deliberately got pregnant at ages 16 or under in order to raise babies together... Well, that's from roughly my neck of the woods and I was vaguely ashamed that it made national news. Anyhow, I've got this idea that they all were intimidated by the future -- They were afraid of the prospect of having to make decisions such as "What skills should I develop?" "Where should I go to college?" "What do I want to do for a career?" and I wonder if, in their 16-year old naivte, they decided that getting pregnant would secure for them a decision-free future. As in, "I'm a mom! I don't have to decide anything further! I've already got my role in life!"
Obviously these girls have no idea what burdens they've saddled themselves with and the many things they're going to miss out on in life. And I pity the parents who are, no doubt, going to bear a lot of the work. But anyhow, my point is, I wonder if JLS was blindly trying to escape responsibility and had a similar (and idiotic) belief that having a baby would get her off the hook.

Just to be mashochistic, I did the kid's natal chart. It's not too bad, really. Much less frightening than Sean's or Jayden's. So maybe there's hope.

I pronounce "pipe layer' as "gainfully employed not by the Spears family". Yes, he has an actual job, which puts him above KFed who's doing what, exactly? Being a failed rapper and opening nightclubs?

After reading the story about the group of teen girls in one high school who made a pact to all be pregnant together, I really hope there are no big photo spreads celebrating this baby. There needs to be less encouragement of teens having babies. It's just sad. Yeah, I agree with this. It is a fine line between being supportive and not ostracizing the girl and celebrating teen pregnancy and motherhood. I hope she can live a quiet, happy life with her pipe layer and take care of her child. Hopefully she has learned from her sister's situation.

Actually, while this might well be Jaime-Lynn's motivation, I came to this thread after reading the NY Times article on the 17+ girls (they're still coming in for tests) at that one school who made their bay-bee pact. I think they are quite obviously aping Jaime Lynn, Jessica Alba, Nicole, etc--even Britney and Angelina, "old" as she is, but esp. JLS. I think that the media has made it seem like the thing that cool hip girls living the cool hip life do, just like wearing a certain style of clothes. The girls were all supposedly not the "popular" crowd and desperate for some distinction in their lives...IOW, the kind who likely eat up every issue of US and whatnot. I think it's going to come out that they are totally influenced by the lifestyles of rich, successful, famous girls, and it makes me ill.

Irene ITA. I watched the coverage of the Gloucester story and then saw a gleeful report that JL had delivered her baby. It's hard not to see the influence. In fact I think you have to cover your eyes with both hands not to see it.
