As for her older sister's name being some sign of parental stupidity on Lynne and Jamie's part, if it was, they're hardly alone, since Britney was not the first "Britney" in the world. Really, check out the Social Security Baby name site, that spelling of it has ranked in the Top 1000 each year since 1980. Not really surprised that Jamie and Casey would go with Maddie as opposed to Madison or Madeleine. I really doubt either parent was too worried about the "Supreme Court Test" when thinking of what to name her. I hope Jamie Lynn doesn't go Larry Birkhead on us and turn photo ops with the baby into a steady career.

Count me among those that doesn't find Maddie that bad. Yeah, it's cutesy but Jamie Lynn is still a kid herself in many ways. Really, the girl's name is small detail. The poor child has teenagers for parents, a selfish and mentally unstable aunt, an opportunist grandmother, and a grandfather who has to babysit his adult daughter. Being named Maddie is the least of that kid's troubles.

If Lynne gets her hooks into her, Maddie will be worse off. Sean and Jayden's lives can only improve at this point, as long as their mama is only involved minimally...

How do you pronounce the baby's middle name? Would you say it the same way you say the man's name Brian, or is it "bree-ann"?
The name sucks but i'm glad mom and baby are doing okay. I am not looking forward to the inevitable OK Magazine exclusive "At Home With New Mommy Jamie Spears!!!!". Ugh. I hate how they try to act like this isn't a really sad situation just because she's famous with a bit of money. She's still just a kid herself. I wonder if Jamie is going to have a nanny. I kind of hope so if that means Lynne will stay away from her.

I'm going to go against the grain. I don't think Lynne will be the problem. She's no Dina Lohan. I think she knows she's made mistakes. I also don't think Britney is who she is because of Lynne. I think Britney was always destined to be barely functional. She's not homeless and mentally ill because she has money.
Maddie will be fine if her momma stays in Kentwood and lives her life with the pipe layer. If she tries to regain her "stardom", then Maddie will be living with Grandma Lynne.

Poor Sean and Jayden have Britney as their mom - they lose right there. But their visits with her are very tightly monitored. The rest of the time they hopefully have normal lives. I don't think anyone needs to worry about that happening. Jamie probably saw her pregnancy as a ticket out of showbiz.

I pronounce "pipe layer' as "gainfully employed not by the Spears family".

After reading the story about the group of teen girls in one high school who made a pact to all be pregnant together, I really hope there are no big photo spreads celebrating this baby. There needs to be less encouragement of teens having babies. It's just sad.

Lest We Forget, Gemma Lynne has already sold the pregnancy announcement, baby shower coverage, and first photo shoot as a package deal to the tabloids before the kid was even developed enough to show up on an ultrascan.
At least Auntie Bitty is there to help J-L and her spawn keep a level head. And she is already lending a hand, as this letter leaked to me by A Source Close to the Family proves:
"Dear Big Sis;
Thank you so much for attending ma bahbah showa. I's ever so appreciative. Thank you for the thoughtful shower gift - I am sure that the Jim Beam sampler pack will come in handy on those 'long nights waitin' for daddah to get back from the store'!
Ah apprciates the offer of babysittin, too. Ah just don't know if I can accomodeate you along wif the court-appointed child monitor, crisis negotiator, and baby-catchers that would have to be there at all times. Maybe once that big job at the county fair comes in, then we can afford to move into that double-wide across the alley and then we can have enough space for y'all.
And thank you so much for offerin to hep out with the finances whilst we waits for the county fair. Ma babbydaddy already told me how you gave him a standing offer to 'drop on by and lay some pipe in my backyard, ifyouknowwhatimean'. He tells me he is already busy on a long-term job doin the same for meemaw, but as soon as he's done and rested up, he'll be raht over!!"
