Thanks, BrokenOx. I understand now. I'm hoping there's an extended version, too. The other prequel DVDs were pretty disappointing with the deleted scenes (not that I was desperately hoping for more Jar-Jar or anything), but I really hope this one has some nice extras.

However, that doesn't explain >>how Anakin was able to appear at the end of ROTJ.<< Tsk. Bad George.

Warning - major fanwank upcoming ;D
Anakin is the first Jedi to die that's not Yoda or Obi Wan. Perhaps the two of them were able to communicate with him as soon as he got to the "other side" or wherever it is that dead Jedi go. That would explain why he doesn't dissapear at death (despite what the books say - the movie shows otherwise). So once Anakin dies Yoda and Obi Wan decided "hey lets go visit Luke! Anakin, this is how it's done" etc.
So I guess GL has a little wiggle room - I'd like to hear what he'd say when asked.

This isn't really a spoiler, but I'm going to tag it just in case. Ergaster to answer your question, I think the reason Anakin was able to appear in RotJ was because he's the "Chosen One" and has such a strong connection to the force, so it happened naturally for him.

General Grievous's cough is supposed to set up the breathing apparatus for Darth Vader. He's a more primitive version of the part man, part machine thing.
I loved it when his four arms come whirling out with his four light sabers . That was badass.

People still think Vader didn't disappear at the end of ROTJ? I always called the "Obscure Death Rule" on him (TM -- Dungeons and Dragons). We didn't see him disappear, but we didn't see him NOT disappear, either. So, it's always been my contention that Luke burned the suit with no body in it. On topic: Haven't seen ROTS, but I'm reading every spoiler.

George Lucas has commented on a few occasions that Darth Vader/Anakin did indeed disappear at the end of RotJ and that Luke was just burning the suit. Good lord, I am such a geek. Also, you should really see the movie, it was incredibly good. Much much better than the last two (although I actually did like those) and better or at least as good as the originals.

Hee! Did you see the Mad Magazine spoof of a day in the life of George Lucas? Thinking about this debate took up a surprisingly significant amount of his time. I loved it when his four arms come whirling out with his four light sabers . That was badass. It really did look great. I really loved that fight sequence. And jynni, your fanwank matches mine!

I really loved the movie, and I'm going to see it again tomorrow night. I think the movie at the end helped tie the plot all together really good...
