I'll be there. I mean, I can't not see it. Star Wars or no, it's a Ewan McGregor movie, and I think there's some unwritten law that I must be at all his movies on opening night no matter what. Exactly why I am compelled to go, even though I practically fell asleep during Episode 1. It's Ewan. He's got that whole Jedi mind mojo working on me. "You want to come to the theater.""I want to come to the theater." "The film will not suck.""This one looks like it might not suck." "Jar Jar Binks was a noble character who added both dramatic tension and comic relief and was not at all a racist caricature or an annoying waste of screen time.""Jar Jar really wasn't that ba--Hey! Get out of my Obi-Wan mind link, George."

Rar, none of those links work anymore and I'm not an AOL member. Anyone else know any others? George Lucas hates people like me.

In a recent interview, Lucas has stated that Star Wars 3 will be too intense for little kids. Maybe he's trying to say that Jar-Jar will be sucked into an exhaust manifold in the first 30 seconds of the flick!
Yes, I'm going to go gainst my better judgement and see this movie, if only to see the Wookie Army in action. An ARMY of Wookies, people, how is that not awesome, at least in theory.
I guess my main problem with this trilogy is that the Jedi are too morally perfect, yet are brought down my one rogue member. A far more interesting plot would have been Yoda, Obi-Wan, and a few others desperately trying to preserve the order as other jedi are seduced by the power that they possess.
I mean come on, the Jedi have the ability to manipulate people's minds, move objects with a thought, see into the past and future, AND amazing endurance and reaction time in combat, and they never, ever, have a moment when they think, "I can run the republic far better than these chuckleheads in the Senate, and If I have to break a few heads, so be it."?
Raskolnikov is a far more interesting character than Anikin, because he is able to talk himself into horrible things, rather than just "go bad". Remember, what made Frodo so interesting was his struggle to not get sucked in by the Ring.
That, and I didn't buy the Jedi having a sleek, futuristic temple on Coruscant. Maybe an Embassy or something on that planet, but I always pictured them as something like the Shaolin, living somewhere windswept and isolated; think Dagobah with better drainage.

I actually liked the prequels. *ducks* Yes, it's true. Well, mostly because of Ewan, I suppose.
BTW, the one line, "You were the chosen one!" gave me chills. *cuddles Obi-Wan*

Actually, I think the trailer looks like hot molten ass. I guess Lucas is going to go all out on the CGI and, since he knows he'll never be able to honestly convey the tragedy of Anakin, just skip over any character development. AGAIN.
And the New Yoda just makes me giggle. He looks like a toddler throwing a sulk when he tries to look "menacing" with that light saber.
I doubt I'll even see this one in the theaters.

Coming out of lurkdom to say I liked the prequal trilogy and I think the new movie is going to be really good. Also, Hayden Christensen is extremely hot. Okay, I'll go back under my rock and hide from the people throwing things now.

*crumpling up a couple paper wads to throw*
He! Can't! ACT!
Heh.
Anyway, I guess I feel like I gotta see this through to the bitter (bitter, bitter, oh, so very bitter) end, and if I pretend I'm 9 again, maybe I'll have a semi-enjoyable movie-watching experience...?

^ In his defense he actually can act, George Lucas just can't direct.

I'd blame George Lucas as well. Everything about this movie sucked, including the acting, but Ewan MacGregor, Liam Neeson, and Samuel Jackson usually do pretty well, so their sucking in this case must be attributable to some other factor. I'll give Hayden the benefit of the doubt.
