Let me in under that rock, ya'll. I got into Star Wars through the Prequels, so I've always had a soft spot for them. I think they get a lot of undeserved flak. I'm getting more and more psyched for ROTS, I think it has the potential to be completely awesome.

The film has been shown to a select few and has gotten some good reviews. Kevin Smith said it was awesome (you can find a link almost anywhere) and I've heard rumors that TIME magazine had positive things to say. I really think this is going to be an awesome movie, just as good as the original trilogy even. No really.

God, I can't wait for this movie.
Even my brothers, who are not exactly Star Wars fans, are psyched for this one. Here's hoping that Lucas did things right...

Kevin Smith said it was awesome Apparently the man got married at Skywalker Ranch, so his opinion is not that impartial. I guess this invalidates my geekdom but I'm not interested in ROTS at all. It'll need some truly good word of mouth before I'll consider paying the (too high these days) price for a movie ticket.

I'm with you, KarenK. I read the end of the novelization at the bookstore today, out of curiosity, and resolved to never pay good money to see this.
Also, Kevin Smith is not a good judge of film (besides his having made Jersey Girl); didn't his pre-release review of The Phantom Menace include an endorsement of JarJar Binks?

Don't tease me like that. I caught some of Portman's dialogue *with sound* during the most recent commercial. I guess relationships in a galaxy far, far away strongly resemble those on a spanish soap opera. But I'll still check it out.

But why? Why set yourself up for such inevitable disappointment...?

I don't know about Portman since I never pay attention to her, because she's never impressed me, but I saw a scene between Ian McDiarmid and Hayden Christensen on Good Morning America today and their acting was good. I also saw a clip of Ewan on something and he seemed to be doing a good job too. I heard George Lucas kind of backed off for this one and let the actors do their own thing. The fight seen looked amazing too.

God, I hope that's true. It's just too bad this one won't have a good build up (like IV and V), but I guess it's better to end on a high(er) note than tank at the end.

It's hard to tell with some of the Fanboys. Some of them are the Prequel's harshest critics. It's really become a love hate relationship in some ways.
That said - if anyone could find it, I'd love to read what Smith did say about Eps 1&2 - the comparison would be interesting.
