Just got back from seeing Monster in Law (ugh) and wondered what all the kids camped out on the sidewalk in a line were all about. Now I know.

I saw the movie and LOVED it! ;D Granted, I'm a die hard fan and don't hate the prequal trilogy at all, but I still thought this was fantastic. It tied up loose ends, had good special effects, and *gasp* the acting was good. Ian McDiarmid totally stole the show. Ewan Mcgregor and Hayden Christensen did an awesome job. Hayden has definetly improved since Episode 2 so he gets major props from me. Natalie Portman sucked like the black hole of acting ability she is, but she didn't have a huge part so it was fine. I thought it bridged the two trilogies together really well. Everyone in the theater loved it and applauded. It had some truly awesome moments and was just as good as the originals in my opinion.

Darn. I was hoping to be first, angel! Anyway, saw this last night at a midnight screening... and it was pretty damn good. Pretty much non-stop action, which to some confirms Lucas' inability to write a decent scene that doesn't have shit blowing up everywhere. Then again, the horrible, horrible romantic scenes between Amidala and Anakin confirms that beyond a reasonable doubt. (Bad, y'all, I'm telling you!) The dialogue is by far the worst thing about the film, especially the first groan-inducing scene between the lovebirds. The best? Yoda. That is one mean green ass kicking machine. For real. I also loved Palpatine. A great villain, and pretty much steals the movie. One thing to mention: this is definitely a grown-up film. It is very very very dark and surprisingly violent. You don't want to take the little kids to see this one. There are a couple of scenes that I suspect were trimmed to avoid an R rating (you'll know 'em when you see 'em -- trust me). All in all, I give it a B+, because good writing goes a long way with me, and ... no.

Yes, Anakin and Padme have ZERO chemistry. Anakin has more chemistry with Obi Wan but that's my issue.
And you are right, this is a grown up movie, not to take kids to at all.
But that "romantic" dialog...yuk...I mean how could anyone say that shit with a straight face? Cringe inducing.

It's really not quite true, though, that SW love scenes always suck. I still say that Han's and Leia's first kiss in the Falcon in Empire is one of the sexiest movie scenes of all time.

They might revoke my geek card for saying this, but I thought the chemestry between Anakin and Padme was smokin' this time around. In fact, I loved the whole damn flick! The best of the prequels, if not the best of the series. I'm dying to go back and see it again.

Although, I still say Natalie Portman was the weakest link, especially since everyone else did so well. Also, the scenes with Anakin and Obi-Wan fighting and Anakin being put into the Darth Vader suit was amazing and heartbreaking. I think this was one of the best Star Wars flicks if not the best.

I just got back from this and I loved it. The story was really good and I was interested the whole time. The only people I didn't like in the movie were Natalie Portman and the guy who played the dude that made Anakin evil (yeah, i'm obviously not good with their names). Whenever they spoke, they were so bad that they took me out of the movie! Other than that, this movie was excellent! Definately the best Star Wars film.
PS: Unfortunately no one in my showing wore a costume, but it was cool hearing everyone reacting when Darth took that first breath.

Loved it. Loved it. Loved it.
Completely redeemed the first two (which I did like, but did not love like I did the original trilogy).
Hayden was smokin' hot in this movie.
I agree, Palpatine stole the movie.
Yoda kicked ass. Again.
Intense.
Some schmuck brought their 1 or 2 year old. As soon as the Vader mask went on, the kid started wailing. Who the hell brings a child that young to the movies? Moron.
I can't wait to go see it again.
Have a bet riding on the box office total. I say Friday - Sunday will be under $100 million, a co-worker says over. Loser buys tickets to see it again........

I've always wondered just how much of that was Ford and how much of it was direction and dialouge. At that point in his career, Harrison would've had chemistry with my front door.
On the new DVDs there a scene with Leia and Han on Bespin that was cut from TESB. The dialouge was just as painful as Anakin's sand speech in AOTC. I remembered that because I was thinking - "See George has always written bad dialouge!". I mean we all remember [whine] "but I was going to Taschee station to pick up some power converters".[/whine]
