I liked it. It was way better than the first two. I did think that Lucas is a little too in love with CGI, some scenery scenes could have been shorter. I loved Palpatine, thought he was the best in the movie.
Some guy had a light saber at the theater I was at. Fortunately, he only held it up at the beginning and then shut right up.

I saw it last night. I'm not a huge Star Wars fan but my husband is. I like them enough but they're not movies I ever want to see again and again.
This was by far the best of the most recent movies IMO.
Although I do think Anakin is pretty easily influenced for being so powerful with the force.
I love Wookies.

I agree about the chemistry. I just knew Anakin and Obi Wan were going to throw down their sabers and make out on the conference room table, there towards the end....I got a little distracted by the thought of it.
Hell, Obi Wan and Padme had more chemistry. Maybe Ewan McGregor is the factor in all of this...he can make me believe he really IS Obi Wan, trying to save his friend, especially in the edge of the lava river scene.
I just think more could have been done with this movie. The whole "Darth Puts on the Suit" scene and then being elevated, is straight out of Young Frankenstein, people. I couldn't help laughing.
Yes it's better than the first two, but is that a compliment?

Watching this movie was like watching a really gorgeous storyboard with cultural icons. The visuals and the characters are powerful as hell, but then one of them would open their mouth and I would get the desire to injure George Lucas. The dialogue was such crap.
Everyone of my companions walked out going "That was great! Except for the dialogue."
Show, George, Don't Tell. You should never be allowed to tell.

Saw it last night, too, and loved it. I didn't loathe Episodes I and II (liked II a lot more than I), but this one just blew both of them away. Not once was I bored during the entire movie and I was seriously moved. I'll admit it--tears were actually shed. I choked up when Bail Organa brought baby Leia to his wife on Alderaan and the tears fell when Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru showed baby Luke the dawn of the twin suns. Such a hopeful ending, but tinged with the tragedy that we know will befall both sets of adoptive parents.
Lucas gets respect from me for not being afraid to tell this story in all its darkness. I mean, the murder of the Younglings--"What do we do, Master Anakin?" Holy crap. Also, I thought all of the actors were better in this movie than in the previous two, with special props to Ewan McGregor and Ian McDiarmid.
Finally, I loved how the movie ties in to the OT...The crowd I saw the movie with went nuts when it saw the familiar all-white interior of Bail Organa's ship. Other things...like the aforementioned twin suns of Tatooine and how Padme's last line echoed one of Luke's to Obi-Wan in Return of the Jedi...were just a wonderful way of bringing everything full-circle.
Oh, God, yes.
Also true.

True, but Empire was a special case, since he had help w/ the direction and the writing I think. Plus, Harrison.... The originals also have a huge advantage in their sense of humor, which the prequels forego for extra cgi crap instead. Still, Revenge is the best of the prequels (I know, not saying much), but it's the first that I would see again. I had no such desire with the previous two.
re: lame dialogue, I thought the Padme/Anakin stuff was better (I attribute that to the actors maturing somewhat). The main thing I took issue with was Padme's prop during the balcony scene. George, please stop reading Harlequins. I'm frankly amazed she could muster up tears during the angsty scenes, Lord knows the script didn't help her; she did a better job this time.
Overall it did give me a sense of the bittersweet nature of the central conflict, so I'm trying not to dwell on how it could have been with more Kasdan-like dialogue.
Forgot to add: the scene when the adolescent youngling tries to battle the droids? and gets cut down ...... so sad.

R2 Kicks Ass!! Loved it, loved it, loved it. I tried not to get my hopes up for this one, but even so it far exceeded my expectations. Some dialogue could have been better, and I could have done without the Tarzan yell by the Wookiees, but everything else ruled. Will definitely see this one again with my Star Wars Geek buddy.

We went to see it last night, and I thought the first half of the movie sucked. But the last half hour kicked ass. The theater wasn't even half full, which I found surprising (thought the 8:15 show would be packed). I hate Natalie Portman. Ugh.

I've always wondered just how much of that was Ford and how much of it was direction and dialouge. At that point in his career, Harrison would've had chemistry with my front door. On the new DVDs there a scene with Leia and Han on Bespin that was cut from TESB. The dialouge was just as painful as Anakin's sand speech in AOTC. I remembered that because I was thinking - "See George has always written bad dialouge!". I mean we all remember [whine] "but I was going to Taschee station to pick up some power converters".[/whine] Oh, absolutely, no doubt about it. Not to mention that Carrie Fisher was coked out of her mind while filming Empire and she still acted circles around Natalie. But dammit, I can't wait to see this!!! (I'm totally spoiled, though, since I read the novel AND the comic book AND read all the spoilers).

But see, Carrie Fisher has always been awesome. Natalie seems to neither have an interesting on or off-screen life, as much as Vogue or Vanity Fair would like to convince me that she does.
