Is he really that much of a moneymaker for the studio? That just seems so cost-prohibitive. Bond is a well-established franchise. Write a script that doesn't suck, get a director who knows what they're doing, and you can make plenty of cash with a cheaper Bond. It's not rocket science.

He may not be, but the franchise currently is, and he's been well-received in the role. I can see them being wary of taking a risk with a new (untested) face as the alternative.

Is he really that much of a moneymaker for the studio? When I checked in late 2014, Skyfall was the eighth highest grossing film of all time. The Star Wars return and some other megahits have changed the map a little, but it's still up there in terms of its overall place in box office history. Also--100 million? He'll cave.

Quite frankly as a fan of the franchise I would rather see him than someone new right now. Anyways, they owe me like 10 bucks because Spectre was so bad.

Yah, I'd rather see Craig again than someone else. I just pretend Spectre didn't happen cause it was terribad. Based on some of Craig's interviews post production it seems like it was a pretty bad experience. Some shit must've gone down behind the scenes cause everyone in that movie was phoning it in and completely over it.
I'm not on the Idris Elba love train. He's hot for sure but I've never seen him in anything that I didn't find mediocre. And while I generally like Hiddleston, not sure I'd buy him as Bond.

I believe Skyfall made over a billion dollars world wide in box office alone, not counting all of those extra revenue streams that come with it. 50 million pounds (approx $75 million) is a pretty small chunk of that pie.

'Skyfall' is the only Bond movie I've seen twice in theatres. It was so good.

Hiddleston is more Bond villain or treacherous double agent to me. I could see him as Bond's weaselly assistant who tries to impersonate him and get his job. Possibly with the assistance of a shady publicist.

Cast Idris Elba as 009 - I'd love to hear what he thought of Bond stealing his car in Spectre, and Hiddlestone as the hacker Alan Cumming played or the impervious to pain dude Robert Carlyle played.
