The best spy movie I've seen in recent years is probably Atomic Blonde -- really stylish and brutal, with one of THE most unique action sequences I've seen in a movie in a long time. As for Bond, it really says something that I had a hard time remembering any of the recent movies besides Skyfall (which, while not a flawless movie, did cross into some interesting territory with Javier Bardem's character). It is an odd franchise. There was some self-aware dialogue about how Bond was a dinosaur even back in the '90s Pierce Brosnan movies, yet Casino Royale was able to make the character feel fresh again. Atomic Blonde was great. I know it wouldn't be easy, but I'd love to see a sequel. I love all the Craig Bonds except the latest, with the apparently 21 year old neuro- (what the hell kind of doctor was she?), with the stiletto heels and glass hospital. I just couldn't follow the story. I am probably one of the 10 people on the planet who LOVED Quantum of Solace, because of its theme, corporate takeover of water sources in South America, wreaking revenge on a right-wing South American general, plus that a lot of it was filmed in the Atacama desert near the giant telescopes. Bond is not a WOC now, Bond is the name of one man, "007" is a job designation, now assigned to a WOC.

I can get on board I think.

I am not surprised , I always thought he would get it. He looked mighty fine in Mad Max.

Tom Hardy is gross!
Fortunately, this rumor was started entirely by a very sketchy new website and I am confident it's untrue. The Bond producers are focused right now on getting Daniel Craig's last Bond movie released successfully and that is all. No way would they create this news and allow people to get distracted just 2 months before the movie comes out. There will be plenty of time for the "who will it be?" game after the movie comes out.
Speaking of Bond, the upcoming movie has the worst title ever. I don't know why people disliked "Quantum of Solace". That's a perfectly good, memorable, cool title. "No Time to Die" is generic and totally forgettable.
Some reporter who interviewed Daniel Craig back when the movie was originally supposed to be released was tripping over the title and Craig tried to help her by jumping in with "Die Another Day". And that wasn't a joke, he just can't remember the fucking title either. "Bond 25" is a better title.

Yeah, I'm not sure Hardy is the way to go. He was fine in "Inception". Everything about his Batman villain turn was misjudged, but that is on Nolan as well. I thought his scenery chewing in "Venom" was fun, because the film is ridiculous and that kind of OTT acting seems right for it. Michelle Williams was way too earnest in it.
But from the stuff I've seen him in, I'm not seeing Bond so far.

. Michelle Williams was way too earnest in it. I haven't seen Venom, but Michelle Williams is way too earnest in everything. My sister convinced me to rent After the Wedding. In it, Michelle's character runs an orphanage in India. It was the most earnestly insufferable earnestness there ever was.

It now seems nothing is confirmed.

Henry Golding is getting some buzz. That would be an interesting option.

I do think the next James Bond has a very strong chance of being a POC. 007 doesn't mean white male, it is a number assigned to a spy, of any race and gender.
