OK, just got back from seeing it and this is what I got:
Johnny = his lovely self but not as funny nor charming nor the centre of attention as in the other two films.
Orlando = sex, sex, sex. The end.
Keira = want to bash her in the mouth so that she forever loses the ability to pout. And yes, Elizabeth Swan is bad-ass in this movie.
Chow Yun-Fat = the most un-menacing villain ever (but I still love him).
Everyone else = adequate.
Plot = no idea.
There's a fun monkey, the little dude from Scrubs is around, some random French people make an appearance or two, there are crabs, there are a few different ships about, Johnny swings around on a rope for about 82 days.
Couldn't tell you what the hell the actual movie was about though.
I looked around halfway through the film and there were a few people sleeping. Generally not a good sign.
For real fans: at the end of the credits, there's a bonus scene. (Just for the record, I sat there with my friends through the entire credits going, 'What the eff did we just watch' and just happened to stumble upon the bonus scene - we were by no means so impressed with the movie that we wanted to stay until the very end.)
I loved the first one, liked the second one enough even though I can't remember a damn thing about it, the third one drained my life. If there is a fourth (and the ending IS set up for a fourth), count me out.

I totally get what you're saying: Elizabeth is feisty. Yet I still feel Keira gets too much of the meat of the film. I truly liked that the "glory" was shared in the first film. Well, except Johnny...he's tops and he can't help it. Hee. Just got back. Initial impression? Disappointment. Didn't make good use of Chow yun fat. Yes, Elizabeth got lots of good lines and action and was the undue focus, imo. Seriously lagged in the middle. Way too much back and forth exposition trying to set up action and way too much who's on whose side stuff going on. But it picked back up in the last third. Still, it had sort of a Return of the King thing going on in that it felt like too many endings. And one of the endings felt a little too "Dread Pirate Roberts" for my liking.Oh and make sure you stay til the end of the credits. Yeah, I was disappointed cuz it could have been better but it was still a good movie. Lots of my favorite characters were back. You get to see Davy Jones' real face...Sorry I'm not more eloquent. I'm a little stoned. ETAagain: I keep remembering stuff... at one point, when Will, Beckett and Jones were waiting on the beach and Jack, Elizabeth and Barbossa are striding towards them, it sounds like the soundtrack suddenly switched to Once Upon a Time in the West. It was the weirdest thing!

Hmm, I was gonna head in and see it at 10am (in 15 minutes our time) but I trust you guys opinions, so I think I'll leave it for when Ive got nothing else to do, instead of rushing in madly.
I think I hear a bubble bath calling my name. I'll take my Pirates of the Carribean playset in there and make my own PoTC:3. 'Drink up, me hearties, YO HO!'.

I am reading all the spoilers--yes, I am weak--and I have yet to read anything about Norrington. Does this character make an appearance.

indygirl, he's listed on the IMDb profile.
I just want him to have a happy ending, so to speak because... <----

Just got back from seeing it.
I don't understand what's so confusing about it. I was able to follow it with no problems.
That being said, I LOVED it. Loved what they did with Elizabeth, loved what they did with Will Turner, and loved Johnny.
Orlando is hawt as hell in this movie, especially near the end. spoiler After he takes command of The Flying Dutchman and turns around, I melted just a little bit. Ok, I melted a whole lot. I may have even let out an audible sigh or two./spoiler
I will definitely be seeing this again!!!!!

I don't understand what's so confusing about it. I was able to follow it with no problems. OK, maybe it's not as confusing as there are just so many subplots that I lost interest in what was going on and found myself kind of just staring at the screen blankly...

Thanks for the spoiler! I have a question about it. << Does he die as a "bad guy" or does he do the "'tis a far better thing I do" routine? I am hoping for noble death! Perhaps in an attempt to help Jack, but I'll be okay with just as a result of trying to protect Elizabeth.>>

Indygirl: <<He dies saving Elizabeth.>>
And, I forgot to mention - Keith Richards was just AWESOME!
The subplots didn't bother me. It's more interesting than one storyline from beginning to end, at least for me.
