I really, really hope that POTC3 breaks Spiderman3's record. Mostly because I love Pirates but also because I loathe the Spiderman movies.
Re: incognito's post. That makes no sense and raises so many questions. *** Who is the captain of the Flying Dutchman? How does Will get his heart back? Can Calypso just make up rule's wily-nily? I guess the green flash means that Will's soul came back. But, but...***

And the end made me sad. After three movies I want a happy ending you know? Not a bone on a beach and a sad goodbye. Really? Once every ten years they get to be together for freaking eternity? I'm going to go to Disneyland and like...fart on the ride for that nonsense. Did you stay after the ending credits? You see a caption that says, "Ten years later." Then you see a 9-year-old kid followed by Elizabeth. Then the Dutchman comes rising up out of the water, with Will on board. Apparently, one scene that was cut out of the movie explained that Calypso's curse would be broken if Elizabeth were to remain faithful to Will for those ten years...which she was, I'm assuming. So the ending scene, I think, shows Will returning to Elizabeth for good.

Well that's weird and completely changes the meaning of the ending.
I don't understand why Elizabeth couldn't just visit Will on the boat? I mean, not all the time, obviously, but sometimes.

Good grief, what a scene to cut!!! That ending really unsettled me, but that scene changes it entirely!
Put me in the disapointed camp. No details, as I'm not sure how to spoiler tag, but I am feeling seriously betrayed.

I've determined what bothers me so much about Norrington's death. While I liked the character and was disappointed to see him go, part of what I liked about him was that even though he wasn't one of the main three he was complex and had an interesting story arc. Killing him off so suddenly just reeks of lazy writing. Can't think of how to end his story? Ah well, let's just kill him. That disappointed me.

I was wondering that myself. Though setting up a date would be a bit of a problem unless they have carrier pigeons/seagulls ;D

<The Krakens's death was explained when Beckett said something to Davy Jones about being forced to kill his pet. Davy was the one to destroy it by Beckett's command. > I too hope that shows up on the deleted scenes.
As for Elizabeth not being able to <go on the boat and stay there, I thought that Bill Turner told his son that she couldn't stay with him. I thought it was because she isn't dead and he needed someone to wait for him. Calypso didn't wait for Davy, but Elizabeth would wait for Will.>

As to why Elizabeth can't visit Will on the Dutchman,
The reason is the Dutchman was restored to it's original purpose of ferrying the souls of the dead to the other side under Will. It would be operating in the other side, where they were in the beginning of the movie and almost didn't get out of except by flipping the ship. The only way Elizabeth could get there--except for dying at sea, of course--would be to take that long trip again to the end of the world, and off the edge.

I had a feeling going into this movie that Norrington would die, something made it inevitable.

Thanks incognito for the additional info about the curse being lifted if Elizabeth remains faithful for 10 years. I agree it makes a difference in how the end is viewed. Seeing Will Turner only every 10 years would have sucked for Elizabeth. Delicious as he was there in the end and all.
