Loved, loved, loved this one. For me, it was a far better mix of action and story than the prior 2 movies, which I really liked.
I went with four friends from work and everyone loved it. However, we didn't wait through the credits, so I missed that scene. I wonder if they didn't include it in the movie because it was more of an ending? The way POTC 3 ends now I felt like they were just setting up for another sequel. And I'm ok with that.

dcgal , you have a point. I thought I heard Johnny Depp say that he'd do another Pirates movie. So that ending might have been premature.

I saw it earlier today and think it was good. Better than 2, but the story was a bit scattered.
Now I was happy to see my lovely Norrington in this film, even though his character is shown but little. Spoiler: I know going into this film, he was most likely going to die. When Elizabeth asked him to go with her, I was begging him in my head to go. I needed him to stick around a little more.
I thought the ending was different. I kept thinking something else was going to take place spoiler: like Barbossa stabbing the heart and becoming the Captain of the Flying Dutchman. I do have to say though that Will becoming the Captain was an interesting twist, not to mention he looked damn good. I'm not a OB fan, but I have to say, I would tag that.
Keira was ok, Mary Sue, but ok. This series has not been my favorite when it comes to acting skills. She's been very 2 dimensional through out the series, but I don't think that is entirely her fault.
Ok, it seems like I missed something after the credits (my bladder could not keep quiet at that point). Someone take mercy on me and tell me what happened?

Thanks a bunch, Incognito, I feel better now. That makes more sense. But really, if that scene was that important for the ending, which it seems it is, why would they cut it out? I have no idea...maybe the producers were sadistic and they thought it'd be more dramatic, the way they ended up doing things. Either they a) don't intend for that to be a part of Pirates canon anymore, so Will and Elizabeth really are apart for eternity, or b) the cut scene was a casualty of sloppy editing (I liked the movie, but editing was not its strength). Or c) they did it deliberately to confuse us, and if there's a fourth Pirates movie, it will all come to light. Or something.

I sincerely doubt either Will or Elizabeth will show up in a 4th movie. It'll be all Jack, all the time, and honestly, I really am pretty meh on that. Jack alone is just too exhausting if he doesn't have a foil. Will Turner made an excellent straightman in the first movie, but no one was there for that in the second and I could tell the difference.

I somewhat agree. I don't think Orlando will be in it, for sure. And I thought that before I saw this movie. I think Keira is more likely to stick around. And frankly, >> since death is no obstacle, I think Norrington could come back and be the ultimate straightman to Jack. Will - who ferries those who die at sea - could bring him back to watch over Elizabeth. <<And then Jack shows up and they have hilarious adventures! There, I wrote it.
Personally, although I admit Orlando was surprisingly masculine, I'm just not as invested in Will and Elizabeth. I want Jack and the ragtag pirate clan. Barbossa and the monkey, too.
I also need to see it again ASAP.

This movie is making so much money. It took in 43 million just on Friday. That's good, but not great. It ended up with $112.5 million for the weekend, far short of Spidey, DMC AND Shrek 3. If they hadn't done the Thursday previews, it would have probably beat Shrek 3 for the 3-day, but it didn't. Friday was actually it's best day. I'm a little surprised by those numbers. I didn't think it would beat Spidey 3, but thought it would do a bit better than what it did. I'll be interested to see how it holds up. I saw it twice this weekend - Thursday night and this afternoon. I'll probably go and see this at least one more time, possibly more. I loved it, did not think it was confusing, hard to follow or contrived at all. I liked what they did with all characters. As for Norrington I don't feel his death was laziness in writing. I thought it was actually a good death for him, especially after what went on with him in DMC. He could have been in the movie more, and my guess is there is a lot of footage that was cut.. Unfortunately, you can't make everyone happy. Orlando's smoking hotness in the movie certainly helped for me. Just yummy.

There was only my sisters and I, plus a group of four people left after the credits. Don't people fucking read? Have they not seen the other movies?

The box office is disappointing, but I think it suffered because the second movie was a let down for a lot of people. But I think it will benefit from word of mouth and repeat viewers. I think it was a lot better than DMC and just as good as CotBP.
I don't know how I feel about a fourth movie. I kinda don't know where else the story could go; everything they've set up since the CotBP has been accomplished. If the writers and Gore Verbinski and the cast would come back, it probably wouldn't be half bad. We have to remember if there is a fourth one ***there will be an annoying child actor to deal with.*** I agree with Crevette. Jack on his own wouldn't be good. He's not the meat or even the potatoes of the movie; he's more like the gravy. And gravy on it's own would get old real fast. [/awkward analogy]

Plainjane, I thought that was a pretty good analogy about Jack being the gravy.
You're right, the 4th movie would need a good amount of the original cast/crew to make it work, but I really don't want to see a 4th movie.
Please someone tell me what happened after credits.
