Just got back from the movie and I loved it. I was so much less annoyed by this one than the others because most of the stuff was included from the books. I still missed the Harry and Dudley goodbye though.
Everyone's acting improved a lot. Dan Rad still can't cry though. Rupert was absolutly wonderful, especially when he leaves. Emma still had eyebrow acting and weird pauses before she spoke but so much better than she was. I can't wait until part 2.

I saw it Tuesday, but it has taken me a few days to process. I loved it, I thought that they stayed very true to the book, except the elimination of the Harry and Ginny romance and Remus and Tonks. I wonder if they are even going to show Harry going off on Remus in Part Two. The frustrating part of eliminating Harry and Ginny is that you have no idea why Harry is enamored with her, or even if he is at all! She has no personality! I know that there are much more important parts to the story, but they even eliminated Harry watching her on the map. In the movie, he is watching friggin Snape.
Speaking of- Snape's entrance to Malfoy Manor? Bad. Ass. Rickman can do no wrong.
Everything else was so good. Rupert really shined here, I am so glad that they gave him more to do. It was very obvious that he and Hermione had something going on. The piano scene and how he was looking at her........whoa. But I also thought that he should have been more crazed when Hermione was being tortured- that part of the book was the point where it was obvious that he was in love with her.
As usual, casting was golden. Who was the guy at the ministry? Yaxley? He was excellent. And Bill Weasley was smoking. He fit in perfectly with the OBHWF. I am bummed that they never cast Charlie. Maybe Part Two.
I was sitting there and could hardly believe that I was watching all of these scenes that I had always imagined and envisioned, it was overwhelming. I might cry when Part Two is over. I don't think I will go see Part One again until next summer. I am hoping that my theater will show a double feature.
The dancing scene was not as bad as I thought that it would be. Still completely unnecessary, though. I would have much rather that time be spent on Dudley and Harry's truce.
On a shallow note, DanRad was really pale. They did a really good job with the seven Harrys. They gave Mad Eye a great send-off too. And I actually preferred how Hedwig perished in the movie to the book. Loved the twins as always, but I can already tell that I will be a mess when Fred dies in Part Two.

What was the quote about filming Philosopher's Stone - something about him being so pale, it was like filming a "milk bottle with shoes"? Hee.

I haven't seen it mentioned here, but he is Domhnall Gleeson, Brendan Gleeson (Mad-Eye)'s son.

I just saw this for a second time, and enjoyed it equally. The changes in scenery during the woods scenes really helped move that time along. I liked how they reinterpreted some things (the constant radio droning, the reading of dead wizards). I do think Hermione got a lot of screen time for whatever reason but hey, she's an important part of the trio, so I didn't overthink that.
I thought the dance was fun & goofy, and reminded me of Dan Radcliffe. It seems like something he'd do in real life to get a laugh out of a friend.
In seeing it again I did have to wonder, are most of the students very petite or is it just me? The scenes with Harry and Hermione they still looked like 12 year olds.
Like you guys, I thought the cut goodbye with the Dursleys was a poor oversight. In that instance I think Kloves just read his audience wrong.
Oh Dobby... I hope we get to see the house elves in the final showdown. Right before Dobby's "scene" several adults ducked down in their seats (I covered my face with a scarf). But a bunch of younger kids nearby either hadn't read the book or were just unprepared b/c they were suddenly WAILING bloody murder. It was unsettling, to say the least.
The Three Brothers tale was really well done. Loved the animation.

Ah, that makes sense. It's obvious Rupert's but for the most part everyone seems around his height. Now I'm imagining LOTR type visual tricks to make everyone seem short!

I think only Emma and some of the girls are really around Dan's height. Most of the other cast members tower over him. I think they try to make Bonnie slouch because she's taller than he is.
