I just saw it today and overall I quite liked it, only the last 20-30 minutes were a bit weaker from the rest. I was definitely sniffly at some scenes, like the Prince's Tale. And boy, the amount of green screen and SFX is enormous. Luckily there were still tickets available so I just saw the regular 2D, then again I went to see a matinee.

I saw Horrible Bosses, but the whole theater was full of people standing in lines everywhere waiting to see HP. Including women totally decked out like Bellatrix.

We had a dementor attack in between part 1 & 2. Three or Four kids dressed in shiny black hoods/capes of some kind came running through our theater while we were waiting for part 2 to start. It took me a second to process and I was like "I think we just got attacked by dementors".

I just watched it and my overall reaction is... eh. I read the books and the only thing I loved in the movie that they added was Neville/Luna, but considering I shipped Harry/Luna or Harry/Hermione it was very underwhelming. Not to mention the horrible lack of chemistry between Harry/Ginny... Ugh... Hated them in the books and even more in the movies. I did cry when Snape died. his memories and Fred/Tonks/Remus dead in the Great Hall, but not any other time. I was expecting more from the battle scenes, likes Neville's grandmother and all the parents coming and fighting with them, the Slytherings fighting with the rest of Hogwarts, all the teachers preparing the school for battle, Grawp helping out... So many things... What about Dumbledor's story?! That pissed me off! I just don't even know how to feel about the movie. This movie belonged to Snape, Neville and McGonagall to be honest. I was let down by the rest.

I loved every bit of it, plus I was super jazzed because we finally got an IMAX theater close by. The 3D is good considering it's converted, but when I see it again it'll be in 2D, the story doesn't need the 3D at all.
Our crowd was very into it, the big kiss got a cheer, as well as the climactic confrontations, particularly Neville's. I was expecting to get a bit of a laugh out of the epilogue, but I think it was nicely transitioned and I'm glad they included it.
I avoided re-reading the book, and had forgotten a lot of details so I could be pleasantly surprised. Did not expect to cry - but I did. The casting was so charmed; it is truly amazing how the actors have grown into their roles, especially Radcliffe.
On the way home I saw a beautiful deer in an area I would not have expected, haven't seen one in at least 5 years. Reminded me immediately of a doe patronus.

While in general I quite liked it... My goodness, what did Alan Rickman do to piss off his make up artist?? Between the black eye shadow he was sporting while alive and the strangely waxy quality of younger Snape, I thought he looked pretty bizarre through most of the movie.

Yeah, Rickman's make-up was strange. I couldn't figure out if they were trying to make him look younger during the flashback scenes or not. He's always been 20 years too old for the part, so maybe they decided not to bother with making him look younger?
Given the costumes discussion from the previous page, I wanted to mention that there was a young guy at my midnight showing dressed in full Dobby costume, including pointy ears, a pillowcase in lieu of a tea cozy, and a knife to the gut with blood coming out. It was awful and hilarious.

I looooooved it. I cried a few times and hugged myself with excitement a few times in the beginning, like a complete dork. The Prince's Tale was well-done as was The Forest Again. Neville was badass AND funny. Everyone in my theater cheered for Neville, Bellatrix' death and the Ron/Hermione kiss.
I thought Voldemort's death was very underwhelming. There was no moment of triumph, it was just blah. Bonnie was terrible again but I'm used to it by now so I just glossed over her. It's funny, in real life, I find Daniel Radcliffe pretty repulsive physically but I can always buy him as Harry Potter.
I want to see it again today!

I feel stupid for asking, but what was The Prince's Tale? I don't remember, and I just saw the movie two days ago.
Loved Neville facing down the Death Eaters at the bridge, especially when things started to go badly and he lost the cocky grin and ran like hell.

Of the three main actors, Rupert Grint is to me far and away the best. I really liked him during the first scene at Gringotts, and of course during the later scene in the main hall... But I have a grudge for life against Kloves. Are Ron and Harry best friends? You wouldn't know it from Kloves' script. JFC. Alan Rickman was the real standout to me, weird makeup and all (I definitely noticed his eyeshadow at some points). As someone who thought the Snape/Lily backstory was cool but wasn't OMG PASSIONATE about it when I read the books - and as someone who has derived great pleasure from rubbernecking at the crazy-ass Snapewives - I have to say Rickman killed the pensieve flashback scenes. The detail that drove me absolutely up the flipping wall: << Do I need new glasses or did child!Lily have BROWN EYES??!!!?!?!!! Not that I would care in any other case, but they have been carping on how Harry's eyes are just like hers for SEVEN BOOKS/MOVIES.>>
