MostlyHarmless, I'm jealous! I'm so excited for the DVD, I'm tempted to go to the 24-hour Wal-Mart at midnight tomorrow and hope that they'll be in stock, considering it will technically be Tuesday.
I know the gag reel has been online for a few weeks now, but I've forced myself to not watch it so I can see it for the first time on the DVD. Me, a nerd? Surely you jest.
I didn't know about the Australian version being a two-disc, though. Do you know what kind of extra stuff they got? Why does Universal love the Aussies more than us?! ;D

Got my DVD last night. ;D I'm really bummed they took out Inara's scenes. Not only did they explain the depth of her relationship with Mal, they were also some funny moments. Oh, so happy it arrived before Christmas! ;D
Have to agree about the cover. It's much better than it looked online. But who are all the people between Zoe and Mal's pics? I hope we get the 2 disc-DVD at some point. I'll buy it.

I get the feeling that at some point we'll get a 2-disc DVD. I for one would gladly buy it, because hey, anything to give the movie a little extra fundage.
I thought the commentary was really interesting but I would have liked to have had one with Joss and Nathan Fillion together. They did one for Serenity the Pilot, and it was really amusing.
The outtakes absolutely cracked my shit up. My favorite was definitely "Take these bodies, tie 'em to the front of the ship, make sure you put Book front and center, he's our friend, we should honor him. Kaylee! Find the kid who's taking a dirt nap with Baby Jesus, we need a hood ornament. Jayne! Try not to steal too much of their shit." ...is it sad I know that almost word for word? Still, it nearly makes me fall of the couch anytime I watch it!
I hope the DVD sales are awesome, but if not, oh well, I still love the movie. ;D

Actually I believe it was more like, "TRAAAAAAAPP!!!!!!". Another one that cracked me up: "Don't fuckin' tell me what to goddamn do! My ship!" "What to goddamn do?"

Well, that was fast (but not unexpected): The Serenity DVD fell to # 6 in sales in only its second week (VIDEOBUSINESS, HOLLYWOOD REPORTER) and in rentals it did even worse: From a mediocre debut at # 12, it falls to # 25 this week.
BTW, is that Summer Glau in the Poseidon Big Screen remake? I could've sworn it was her (If that's her, nice to see her moving on up from a cheapo Sci Fi failure to a big budget film expected to make a killing next summer...)

I'm not surprised that the same people who 1) didn't watch Firefly for free and 2) didn't watch Serenity for 9 bucks aren't ponying up 20 bucks for the DVD.

Universal have announced that Serenity will be one of the first movies released on HD-DVD.
Serenity is the third best selling DVD on Amazon. I guess they have all the stock since many retailers sold out. And Firefly is number four on Amazon. Not bad for a show that went off the air several years ago. There are a lot of people out there buying both DVDs.
