So apparently Oliver Stone is making the dvd "less gay" HereSure Oliver, that was the biggest problem in the movie, it wasn't because it sucked or anything.

No Oliver! What the movie needs is more gay! More Gay! What's wrong with you!
(Eh, I'm just talking out my arse. I've never even seen the movie. But sometimes a little HoYay can go a long way towards making a not-so-good movie better. See: Velvet Goldmine)

I saw this movie with my boyfriend, and while good, things could have been improved. They turned Olympia's moment with a snake into an obsession with snakes, not to mention Angelina's accent was more Transylvanian rather than Greek or Macedonian.

Less gay?
What a schmuck. The HoYay! was the only reason I went to see that movie to begin with. Hey, maybe next he can make a movie about Franklin Roosevelt that leaves out all that pesky "not walking" stuff! It'll make it that easier to film that scene of FDR storming the beaches of Normandy and running up to Adolf and Eva's oceanside cabana and using nunchucks to beat the stuffing out of the Fuhrer! Oh, wait, that's a movie I'd actually *enjoy* seeing.
I want to see the stuff that he took out of the theater version. Apparently there was a sultry sex scene with Bagoas that got cut.

I've actually never seen it either. I heard it was so awful that I wasn't going to sit in the theater for 3 hours, but I was looking forward to the dvd. I really wanted to see the HoYay! Stupid Oliver Stone! Aren't dvds supposed to have more stuff than the theater version, not less? Oh well, I guess I'll be taking it off my Netflix que.

Oh my god i got it from netflix the other day and it was horrible. Worse than I could have ever imagined, my eyes actuallly started burining about 45 min in (with 2 more hours to go). The only thing that kept me watching was to see just how bad Colin Farrels hair could get, and by the end when he was running around with a full blown eighties bleach blond mullet catastophe it was kind of worth it. But i dont think anyone should watch this move ever for any reason ever. Dear God stay away .

I tried to watch it last night on DVD and only made it through an hour before turning it off. It was so bad.
Colin used to be able to act, what the hell happened?
I don't think Angelina's accent was supposed to be Greek or Macedonian, because they implied that her husband thought of her as a barbarian, so she was probably from somewhere else, but I have no idea what her accent was supposed to be.
I hate snakes.
ETA: How the hell did Stone trick that cast into doing the film? Send them a script for another film?

So the movie really is that bad huh? They had a news snippet on IMDB the other day and Oliver Stone was saying the movie failed because young people don't understand history and it doesn't interest them. So, first it was because America can't handle gay content and now it's because America can't handle history. I guess he'll never admit the movie just plain sucks and that's why nobody saw it.

Right, because when your movie didn't do well, and you're worried that the DVD sales aren't going to be good, the best thing to do is insult the largest potential national customer base for your product. Stone needs to do a movie about Egyptian history, because he's in denial. Yeah, sorry. ETA: I actually would have appreciated more dialogue and historically relevant information and less action. I only watched the first hour, but it basically consisted of some yakity yak family history from the perspective of Anthony Hopkin's character AFTER Alexander's death, some homoerotic preteen wrestling, a young Alexander as horse whisperer, Angelina fondling snakes, Val Kilmner almost getting his nasty nasty way with Angelina, a way too long scene with Val expositioning about every famous Greek hero without really telling us anything except that Alexander is really really ambitious, which we probably could have figured out from the fact that he's like 12 and has already learned to speak horse, ONE really really long, confusing and boring battle scene, and then *POOF* Alexander is the unofficial ruler of all of Persian, and I'm like WTF? That's all it took? One battle where it looked like he was getting his ass kicked? I could have ruled all of Persia by the time I was 25!
