Saw last night with my husband and I really liked it (he lurved it!). I thought the backstory about everything--Bruce Wayne, Gotham, where the villians and gadgets came from--was fascinating. I'd also love to see a spinoff just about the League of Shadows.
That actually took me out of the movie for a second at the end there because he towers over Bale, despite Batman looking pretty big in earlier scenes.
I almost hate to bring this up, but did anyone else find the scruffy, college-aged Bruce Wayne resembled CTC circa Risky Business? I found it rather startling.

As someone who only went reluctantly with friends to see this movie (am--or perhaps was is more accurate--not a fan of either Batman or Bale), I was amazed that I loved it. I thought I'd found a few superhero movies to enjoy in the past, but this one blows them all out of the water. Satisfyingly solid with a uniformly excellent cast (with the exception of Holmes, the weak link). Kudos to director Nolan for using his cast to their best advantage and keeping the script well-paced and tight. Thumbs up, shall probably go for another viewing on the big screen.

Yes, I loved this film also. I never saw any of the other Batman movies in their entirety, but even from what I saw, none of them came close to capturing the depth that this movie did. I really enjoyed it, and I will certainly be buying it when it comes out on vid. I wish it were coming out already! And the scene where Bruce drops to the floor to do push-ups? Yum!

As far as I'm concerned, comparing CB to Clambo the Rondroid is like comparing sirloin to Spam.

I'm thinking the souped-up Town Car would be a homage to the Lincoln Futura which was the Batmobile design used in the TV series. Honestly, that treatment doesn't sound that bad, but it's definitely not Batman. Might as well call it 'Batman: Elseworlds' and be done with it. And speaking of Batmobiles, I'm still not satisified with the one in this film: the best version I've found is the sports car Batmobile of the comic series. The one in this movie really undermines the whole stealth aspect of Batman's persona just like the glowing hubcaps did for the last two movies.
Hell yeah! Two-Face was awful in Forever. They might as well not have bothered at all, especially when he was essentially Tommy Lee Jones on a sugar high. I've love to see how they would manage with that in a serious series.
Agreed but with a caveat: I want to see them do the Penguin as he was envisioned: a haute culture freak with high class tastes as well as being a crime boss. None of this Danny Devito living in the sewers shit.
