That is pretty cool, jessba. Hey, maybe the kid can sue for more money along with Randy Quaid. I mean, crying is pretty hard work, right? Clearly, the kid deserves more money for being in such a vital role, and she was probably tricked into working for less because she was under the impression it would be a small movie. Hee.

Randy Quaid really tied the movie together, though. [/big lebowski][/quote] Tee hee.

I just got done watching this and I loved it. Heath Ledger definately deserved his oscar nomination and after seeing the film, I kind of think that Michelle Williams should have won for Best Supporting Actress. Rachel Weiss was excellent in TCG, but Williams fucking owned in this movie! Some of her best moments was when she wasn't even talking. The looks she had on her face said it all.
The only two people I hated in this movie were Anne Hathaway and Anna Faris. Honestly, whenever they were onscreen (especially the part when they are all at that dance) it took me out of the movie for a second. Faris was WAAAAAAY over the top with her "southern"-ness and frankly, Hathaway just sucked! Her acting seemed like it was straight out of a horrible Lifetime movie. She was particularly bad in her last scene in the movie where she is on the phone. Linda Cardellini and Anne H should have switched parts because I think Linda would have done a better job.
And finally, the blonde wig...HORRIBLE!!! I know that's shallow, but damn, when that crispy bleach blond mass of "hair" appeared, I couldn't help but stare.

I agree. She does "talking while trying not to cry" like a pro.

BBM was nominated for two MTV Movie Awards: Jake Gyllenhaal for "Best Performance," which has both male and female nominees and Jake and Heath for "Best Kiss."

I generally stay as far away from MTV as possible, but if it's the kiss that I'm thinking of, I will run over and vote for it a thousand times. HOT.

I like Linda Cardellini. The scene where she meets Heath and supposedly falls for him, though, is a little weak. I mean, she only just saw the back of his head from the jukebox.
Anyway, I think the pacing of this film was waaaaaaaay too slow in the first twenty minutes, but then picked up nicely. I especially liked Michelle Williams' role - I could feel how twisted she got holding the knowledge in for so long...

Linda Cardellini and Anne H should have switched parts because I think Linda would have done a better job. I think that you are so right. Miss Cardellini would have brought some humanity to the role. All Miss Hathaway brought to it were her lovely breasts and a multitude of viewers' comments on her makeup. That is a mark of how poorly a character is portrayed, when all you can think about is the character's makeup. And not the bitter haunting that should be in her eyes. Mr. Ledger and Miss Williams were perfect in the movie. I understood Ennis' emotional implosion and empathized with him, although in life, I would have despised (and feared) the man. Ennis' wife should have left him sooner. He had nothing to offer her either financially, emotionally, or socially. His poverty was self-imposed in most respects. That trailer in the middle of nowhere in the wind swept high plains of Wyoming (or Canada) with nothing in it but a photo of Brokeback Mountain and the two cowboy shirts---jeez, the abject loneliness and poverty (on all levels) of that makes me tear up now just thinking about it. All that beauty around him, and Ennis could never enjoy it. As for Jack, I would have liked to have seen someone like Ryan Phillipe in the role. Mr. Phillipe can do smoldering sex and resentment so well. I would have believed in the contempt that Jack inspired in his father and his father-in-law and Mr. Quaid's character. Anna Faris was grating caricature in an otherwise low key realistic movie. I am trying to think of an actress who could have played the off key comedy with the basically oblivious insecurity and self-contempt that the character merited. hah, why does Jennifer Anniston keep coming to mind?
