Three hours? Save it for the special edition dvd, Pete! I don't mind seeing a long movie but what about King Kong is so special that it needs to be expanded to that level? I am still planning on seeing it, but now I feel apprehensive rather than excited. Shoot.
The new trailer looks pretty good, but it doesn't look butt-numbingly good.

First word is good. CNN's Showbiz Tonight raved it. I think some of the movie geek sites also have positive reviews. It's mentioned that the length isn't a problem, or a minor one at worst. The Daily Mail, somewhat spoilery. The blockbusters this year were either too dumb (Fantastic Four) or dark (Batman, WOTW). Kong looks like it'll have some heart-tugging emotion without being downright depressing. I'm in the "can't wait" group. Also, dinosaurs! Creepy bugs! Jamie Bell! Naomi!

I seriously can't wait for this film. It looks fantastic and also because I hear the x-men trailer is before it. From what I hear of that trailer, it's going to be amazing.

Looks amazing, and if the film is indeed as emtionally touching as visually spectacular, this might indeed become a huge, all-demos blockbuster...

Hmmm. I am still undecided about this one, though the 3-hour factor is a bit of a turn-off. I generally like Naomi Watts, or at least, she doesn't bother me. Every time I see the trailer though I think it's Scarlet Johannsen tied up there for a minute. The movie does sort of have a Jurassic Park look to it, doesn't it? The video game verson of King Kong looks pretty tight though. I may just get that instead. Heh.
Word to people that found LOTR were not their thing. I'm glad I saw them, I think they were beautifully done, and capture the series pretty well... but I never want to see any of them ever again. I feel the same way about the books. But that's for another thread...

Holy hell, is it REALLY 3 hours long?! Dammit, Peter Jackson, I almost suffered kidney failure during those danged hobbit movies! Knock it off!
I'll probably take a pass on this one. The big-monkey premise was pretty stupid in the original movie and beyond ludicrous in the 1970s remake. This one looks like a computer effects geek's demo reel. I don't think it will break new ground in exploring big-monkey/puny human relations.
Yeah, I know, it's an ape not a monkey. But it's really a guy in a mo-cap suit, not an ape. So there.

I really have no desire to see this. I think the trailer is just laughable ass.

It got a great review from the NY Daily News.So far it's at 100% on Rotten Tomatoes. At first I was skeptical because some of the CGI looked questionable, but now I'm really looking forward to it. Can't wait!

This looks good, but I don't like the idea, carried over from the 1976 movie, that the girl is as fascinated with King as Kong is with her. The irony of the original story is that "beauty killed the beast." Kong was too much of an animal to realize that the girl was actually repelled by him, not attracted. In the closing moments of the original film Fay Wray develops a sympathy for Kong as he's bedeviled by the planes, and that's OK; but having her have a 'relationship' with him from the get-go shifts attention from the basic story.

And, really, who falls in love with a giant ape? Well, ok, there was that one time....
I really want to see this. You know that scene where Kong is protecting her from the dinosaurs, all flailing her around and kicking dino-ass? I saw it on Conan or something, and then I dreamed that it was me Kong was defending. It felt like an amusment park ride and when I woke up, my heart was pounding.
