I thought it was amazing (yikes I sound like CTC himself) due to the JJness. Seriously, it was like watching Alias at the movies, with Tom in the Sydney Bristow role. I have to admit, this is familiar territory for JJ, but even the music was Alias-like. I am really glad that Ving Rhames got a bigger part in this one. MI2 was TERRIBLE. I cannot decide whether I liked this better than the original- it did not even seem to be the same Ethan Hunt character to moi. But the rest of the cast- chock full of sexy. Everyone did a good job.
How ironic that this is actually a GOOD movie, but Tom probably sunk it by actually trying to promote it. Less is more, Tom, less is more.
By the way, who is Maggie Q.?

She played gorgeous asian IMF agent for whom I'd watch this movie if I didn't hate CTC. When will they ever develop movie editing technology that can digitally replace actors we hate in movies we'd otherwise want to see?

Saw it this afternoon. I didn't like the first 2 movies (the second is rightly denounced, but there seems to be this widespread view that the first is actually good--why?!?!), but I liked this one.
I thought Bridget Monaghan (sp?) did the best she could. When she was in her hospital digs, I thought, "Hey, she should be playing Meredith Grey instead of that bitch, Ellen Pompeo!"

I wonder why not many are talking about her or mention her, I thought she was stunning in the movie, don't know why she isn't noticed more.

She was gorgeous! I loved that moment between she and Jonathan Rhys Meyers when she was praying in the car. They could have some very nice chemistry with more scenes together. I hope if there is another sequal they are paired together.

Actually, it was Michelle Monaghan, not to be confused with Bridget Moynahan, who dated Tom Brady. Back on topic - I look forward to seeing this on an airplane at some point. I like the MI films and love JJ, but just can't bring myself to give CTC my cash.

I saw this at a free screening last night. It wasn't a bad movie and Tom didn't bother me as much as I thought he would. Some parts were a bit predictable, but otherwise it was good. The icky part was you can really tell that Tom's getting up there in age. Sometimes his wrinkles were really noticeable. He almost seemed way too old to be with Michelle.

After watching this, I realized I'd compartmentalized the whole romance plot line. His real-life personality just ruined any suspension of disbelief I might've had for his movie love interest (if that makes sense). OTOH, I felt he and Thandie Newton had believable chemistry when MI:2 came out; but maybe I have to watch that post-TomKat meltdown and see how I feel about it now.
ETA: When Maggie Q. did that quick "flash" with her red dress, the men sitting next to me in the theater audibly gasped. She is really pretty.

I finally saw it, and thought it was all right. I loved the supporting cast, especially JRM, Simon Pegg (in his two scenes) and Maggie Q. I saw the movie just for Philip Seymour Hoffman, really, because I'll watch anything he does, and he didn't disappoint.
I definitely think TC had more chemistry with Billy Crudup than the actress playing his wife.

Yeah, okay, I caved today because my niece wanted to watch it. It was good, and I'd have enjoyed it if it hadn't been for Tiny Tom. PSH was fantastic, really chilling, and the supporting cast were really good as well. I noted the resemblance between MM and KAK also.
Lots of bits in the film really had me giggling. For example, every time he kissed MM, all I could think was "Tom Cruise does all his own stunts!" And later on, when he makes a defibrillator (in a McGyver stylee) I thought "So that's it! He didn't buy a sonogram - he made his own! Because he's Tom Cruise!" Oh, and he runs like he's got a carrot stuck up his arse.
Anyway, I can't say I begrudge the money I spent (no more than I usually do, anyway) because in my head, my money went towards paying PSH for outclassing Tiny Tom in every conceivable way.
