Why DID Philip have such an issue with Fergie but not with Diana though? Both were exposed by the tabloids as having had an affair, as were their respective husbands (as Philip had himself albeit pre tabloid and paparazzi culture so was never officially exposed). Yet when Charles was begging for a divorce it took a lot before they agreed, and in contrast when Andrew and Fergie wanted to stay married they were forced to get a divorce despite the BRF aversion to divorce in and of itself.
It seems quite illogical and disproportionate. 20 years later had they stayed married all along they’d just be married (and 2 of the 4 monarch children would have been divorced instead of 3 of 4) and the toe sucking pic would have been a blip.

This is all speculation, since Elizabeth and Philip didn't ever publically comment on such personal matters compared to their kids. But it's always been portrayed as: He didn't have a problem with them struggling in the role. He was an outsider himself and understood how brutal the court could be. The moment he perceived them as deliberately exposing and working against the Crown, that was that. Fergie also had the various attempts to monetize the BRF later on working against her.
And he turned on Diana after the Andrew Morton book reportedly. Then the Panorama interview was the final straw. I've read accounts where the Queen was supposedly still dithering on how to proceed and Philip basically dragged her hand across the page so as to order the divorce. Divorce was the right option, but since Charles was heir, everyone was really hesitant about it.

Charles also would one day be head (Supreme Governor) of the Church of England, so I think there was some squeamishness about a divorced person in that role.
Although Henry VIII didn’t seem to see any contradictions.

Although Henry VIII didn’t seem to see any contradictions. To be fair, Henry didn't see himself as divorced. His marriage to Catherine of Aragon was dissolved as she was his brother's widow and therefore unable to be his wife - despite the Pope's original dispensation, 20+ years, umpteen pregnancies, and Mary Tudor being treated as Henry's heir. Henry's marriage to Anne of Cleves was annulled because he didn't fancy her as it suddenly turned out she'd been previously betrothed and wasn't free to be Henry's wife. And Henry was a raging arsehole who wasn't above chopping off a woman's head in order to marry his lover.

You ever think she is watching all this drama and says to PA, 'you know, I may have effed up, and you may be a Right Bastard, but if the worst they can say about our children is they have terrible fashion sense, we've done a pretty good job.'

Bea and Eug turned out fantastic, particularly when you factor in their parents. They also have nothing but nice things to say about both of their parents who seem to otherwise be garbage humans. I think also, in spite of her grifter ways, people still seem to like Sarah and don't mind keeping her around. Is she blackmailing people to keep her mouth shut about stuff? LOL.

Is she garbage though? I think she's just one of those unfortunate aristocrats without a lick of sense.

Is she garbage though? I think she's just one of those unfortunate aristocrats without a lick of sense. Well, she took money from Jeffrey Epstein to pay off loans after he was convicted the first time.
