Just saw her on EXTRAS. Honestly, I wasn't all that impressed with her comedy-wise. She wasn't bad by any means, but she wasn't great. I do really like her as an actress, though.
For those who missed it, on the show, they're making a movie about the Holocaust and she plays a nun. The whole "funny" revolves around her giving advice to another extra on how to do phone sex while she's dressed as a nun. Without the habit, not really all that funny. The girl getting the advice was far more hilarious, I thought.
I did love KW's explanation of why she was starring in a Holocaust film. Holocaust = Oscar, see "Schindler's bloody List."

I'm late to the conversation, but wanted to comment. I really like Kate as an actress and think she is incredibly beautiful, but I do agree that many people (and posters here) seem to have her on a pedastal. We have no idea what she is truly like in real life. She could be the nicest person in the world, or the biggest bitch. I like her, but am a little weirded out by how much some people seem to love her...

There is a book out. It's either an autobiography or a biography and I am pretty sure the subject is male, an actor, older and possibly British. I forget the name, though!
Apparently this book contains a number of anecdotes that make Kate Winslet look like a spoiled Hollywood b***h. Has anyone heard of it? Any quotes? I'd love to know what those stories are!
I think Kate's a good actress but I can't forgive her for marrying that hack doughboy.

I thought she was awesome on that show. But then I'm in love with Kate Winslet, and I'm in love with that show.

Ok, what's up with the gossip about her losing 3 dress sizes? I want pictures!

She is mentioned in Piers Morgan's autoboigraphy "The Insider" ex editor of the tabloid paper the "Daily Mirror" as being divaesque and wanting photo approval and airbrushing (or something like that - can't find book to quote). Is that the book you were referring to Foxfair?

I really, really don't understand this whole "3 dress sizes" thing. There's no way. Here she is at the Oscars this year. Here she is at the Jarhead premiere. I just...don't see that much difference. Maybe a little, and mainly in the face, but definitely not 3 dress sizes' worth. It sounds like something someone just made up to sell papers. What is not something made up, however, although it sure sounds like it should be an asterisk from the other place, is her duet with Weird Al on some kids' CD. Hee.

I think she's quite a bit thinner, but not three American dress sizes. I know sizes run differently in Britain and Europe, so maybe that's the difference?
She definitely looks like she's dropped between 10 and 15 pounds.

Is that the book you were referring to Foxfair? The airbrushing thing doesn't make sense, cause didn't she once complain about a picture where they had airbrushed her thinner and she wouldn't have that?

That was the cover of GQ, wasn't it? Yeah, they airbrushed her so much that she looked like a giraffe with these nutso 6ft legs - it was absurd. She went mad. Article & pic hereAnd it was ridiculous - I mean this was last year or '04 or something when she had her present very nice figure. There was no need to airbrush her at all. And she was wearing a jacket in the shot for God's sake - you couldn't see that much of her figure anyway. So obviously she didn't have final approval then and that was pretty recent. Maybe in the wake of that she's asked for final approval - I know I would. Actually I would anyway....I don't think it's a diva-ish thing - I think it's a girl thing! If I thought it were at all possible to get that power, I'd grab it with both grubby hands. I'd want them to put a pic on the cover I liked - not one that only emphasised my big nose. For example
