I saw this a second time as a favor to a friend, and it absolutely does NOT stand up to a repeat viewing. At all.

Good to know. I was going to do the same thing today--see it as a favor to a friend, and I'm glad I didn't. I wasn't so keen on it the first time.

Sequel in the works. I understand the movie was a hit, but the word is overkill. What type of manufactured drama could they possibly come up with again for a sequel?

Big is commitment-phobic and doesn't want to have a baby. Samantha still really likes sex. Charlotte is still nurturing and wants more babies. Miranda struggles to balance her workaholic/hard-ass edge while still being a good wife and mother. Many cocktails are had and shoes are bought. Product placement. Bright colors. Plot contrivances. Blah blah blahdedy blah. Just a guess.

I saw this about a month ago, and I am still fuming about what a magnificent DICK Big is. Hate. His character ruined the movie for me. Interesting that he can have a big wedding to Natasha, but Carrie is not good enough to warrant anything above a courthouse ceremony (even though this was her first marriage, and he knew she was the kind of person who would want a beautiful, big wedding). Interesting that he gets all bent out of shape if there is a Page 6 mention of his engagement to Carrie, but apparently he had no problem of a New York Times write-up detailing his and Natasha's wedding. It just all goes back to his treating Carrie like the little whore who he is ashamed to take in public (remember when he refused to introduce her as his "girlfriend" and when the only place he would take her was to that hole-in-the-wall Chinese place?)
Of course, Carrie is no prize either. How dare she get that upset at Miranda for her comment to Big? And then she has to have her friends literally feed her? And she has the audacity-in the world we live in today-to say "Will I ever laugh again?" Ugh! Get over yourself, bitch.
So she completely gives in and gives him the wedding that he wanted (courthouse). No compromises there. She just completely gave in. Where were his compromises? And how could she be so completely batshit insane to go back to him?!
I was always a fan of the show, but I guess the movie just highlighted the fact that these characters are complete assholes.

Big is commitment-phobic and doesn't want to have a baby. What about le Big divorce-because you know it's coming.

I finally saw this movie last night and what stood out to me is how utterly selfish these women are--Samantha and Miranda, especially. Sickenly so. It isn't about giving your life up for a man to be in a relationship, but at least in my world view, putting yourself above all else in the world is not a virtue, it is a character flaw. I am not saying that Steve EVER should have cheated, that is wrong, but being married to Miranda would be like hell on earth. I loved the movie, don't get me wrong, it was frothy and fun and a fantasy. The mere idea that women could walk down the street dressed like that and not get pointed and laughed at is part of the whole fairy tale of SATC, just like their apartments and abundance of hot men, etc.

If there is a sequel, god forbid, please let it end in my imagined alternate ending of a Cosmo Jonestown.

I finally figured out why I didn't feel sorry for Carrie after the wedding that wasn't. Because I can't stop thinking, wow maybe now she knows how Aiden felt. And I didn't even like the Aiden character.
