I finally saw the movie and really didn't like it much at all. The part in Mexico, especially. The part with her friends constantly protecting her and feeding her bugged the shit out of me. Come on. Steve cheated on Miranda, her son is shuttling between the two of them and yet she's in Mexico tending to Carrie who can barely function? And I consider myself a pretty good friend to my friends but I can't see my friends and I giving up 3 days out of our lives to watch another friend prance around in her clothes closet and voting on whether an outfit stays or goes. At least not now when we're in our 40s and have other commitments like work, family, etc. I know I'm taking this a bit too seriously but I think I mostly hate that it's Carrie as the center of attention and her friends flock to her like needy little puppy dogs. I was actually surprised when Carrie went to Miranda's on New Year's Eve.

I found the movie entertaining while I was actually watching it.
Then it ended and I immediately realized that everyone in the movie (with the exception of Charlotte) was kind of an idiot.
Is it possible to feel that way about a movie? To sort of enjoy it while it's going on and then realize afterwards that almost everyone in it, especially Big and Carrie, was kind of a bonehead? And then be disappointed that they're such boneheads?
I suppose I can understand why Samantha left the model/actor dude though. Wow, he had less personality than a box of hair. He didn't seem that dull on the show. What happened? However his dullness didn't seem to be the reason why she left him. If the dullness or lack of personality wasn't a problem for her then I didn't really quite understand why she would throw away the relationship for the skeezy, cheap neighbour or any other skeezy, cheap neighbour that might come her way.

My friend and I watched it in a hotel the other night and were so excited to finally see it -- WOW, what a disappointment. SO many convenient mischaracterizations for the sake of manufacturing drama. It really felt like they threw the TV show and the characters right under a bus to make a buck. We were rolling our eyes left and right, and both fell asleep before the end. I haven't bothered to look up the ending, because there is no doubt in my mind the wedding happened. And really, I didn't care a lick. Clearly, the writers & producers didn't either.
And someone greenlighted a sequel? What a joke.

I finally saw this.
Without all the ridiculous clothes scenes? This piece of shit would have been about five minutes long.
And, you don't fucking marry a guy who leaves you at the altar. Ever.
Unless the reason he's not at the altar is because he's busy giving you one of his kidneys.

The DVD is an "extended edition," srsly? This did NOT need to be longer.
That said, I really liked it. But seeing it in a packed house opening weekend helped.
I loved the parts that felt like the early seasons - esp. all the Carrie/Miranda stuff. The NY montage was just...heartbreaking.

I just bought the DVD and I must say I am disappointed. It seemed like every scene lead to nowhere and quite frankly, SJP didn't look good at all.

I also just bought a copy and although I enjoyed (not loved) it when I first saw it, it does not hold up for me upon second-viewing. It seemed to have none of the wit of the series and Carrie was annoying beyond words. And, I agree SJP looked like shit. When are these women in films going to realise that if they ate something, they would look 10 years younger? Charlotte, Miranda and Samantha all looked great imo, but Carrie...yikes. And, for me, the movie should have ended with her vowing to never take Big back again.

I had a huge issue with the fact that Miranda apparently doesn't have time enough for her family and busy career but has plenty of time to accompany Carrie to Mexico and help her cry. Maybe if she put less time into Carrie and more time into her marriage, things would have been better!
Also the writers completely neutered Big in this movie.

Watched this the other night and was pretty meh on it. Character assasinations galore. However, all four women looked stunning at all times - even SJP. Whoever did makeup for this should get an Oscar. Just chiming in on the clothes, bags, and shoes. Wow. It made The Devil Wears Prada look like a low-budget indie. It was fashion porn! Pulled the above from way up thread because I couldn't agree more and I thought DWP had amazing clothes! But lord, I would die for the wardrobe that SJP alone wore and I usually think she's way too over the top. The little girl playing Charlotte's daughter gets my award for being the cutest on screen child ever (the the kid playing Brady a close second). I wanted to reach through the screen and squeeze her! Just adorable! I also loved that they threw in Charlotte's dogs. I would've been wondering what happened to them otherwise.

So, this was on at my hotel. I got through about half of it. I assume it ends with *spoiler* Big writing her a love letter and winning her back?
The rest of it was all right, but yeah, I felt the overprotectiveness went a little far. Charlotte actually phsysically shielding her from Big after Carrie had beat him up on the street? Right.
