Worse, Georgianna, it ends with Big retyping the love letters from that stupid book and emailing them to Carrie. No original thought. Hardly any emotional effort. Totally looserific. And then they get married in a courtroom, just like Big wanted. Who cares what Carrie wants, right? Ick I did not like what they did to Carrie and Big. It's like the least feminist ending they could have thought of. Actually that's true for Miranda, too. Blech.

This was a complete fairy tale. I did not see anything believable at all, including their clothing, jobs, lifestyles. I don't know where I lost the love, I enjoyed the TV show.

I didn't like the movie either. No one can live the way they do.

I don't why, but I gave this piece of crap another try. Possibly because I am recovering from some trauma and trying to be low-key today. It was even worse than I remember. Much worse watching it on the small screen. They all just seemed SO over the top. Most of the stuff I enjoyed watching it in the movie theatre was gone.

Ha. I hated the ending but loved the movie if that makes sense. I bought three dvds, gave away two as gifts, and just downloaded it to my new ipod. They got me good.

Well, I finally saw this. I think the problem was that the writing was very weak. It completely lacked the humor and wit of the series. It tried too hard to have the funny lines, but they just weren't. Michael Patrick King apparently wrote this all by himself - bad move. I believe he also wrote the Paris episodes himself and I hated those too. With so many funny women writers who contributed over the years, why just make this your own project?
Anyway, Miranda was back to angry, bitchy and unlikable. I liked the Miranda who accepted her life with Steve. She was still edgy, but she seemed content, and that was nice. I actually like Steve the best in this movie. I thought his acting was really good, and I actually cried a little when I saw his face on the bridge.
And as everyone has said - the wedding thing was SO dumb. So just because a 40+, first time bride decided she wanted to actually have a nice wedding, that can't happen because the asshole groom has been married before and "What will people think?". Actually I was so distracted by Chris Noth's eye lift/brow lift, whatever the hell was going on there. His eyebrows were so... arched. Carrie would have a long life ahead of her with a man who doesn't let her make decisions and be herself.
And what was up with the crazy overreaction to Samantha's stomach? They were all horrified that she actually gained weight. Only it was ONLY in the stomach, and she was wearing inappropriate clothes anyway for her age.
So are Stanford and Anthony supposed to be together? It was ... odd. Like they had given up and turned to each other ... and neither one seemed very happy about it.
I so badly wanted to like this because I really loved the show (except the ending).

I backed up to watch the scene again and ended up assuming it was something to do with her boobs until they mentioned her gut. What? What gut. Oh, you mean the teeny barely half inch bit of flesh that was peeking out of her ugly ass clothes? That just seemed so out of character, for all of them.

None of them every mentioned anything about Miranda gaining weight... And at her heaviest, Miranda was a hell of a lot chunkier than Samantha in that scene.

She was supposed to have gained 15 pounds - did nothing but eat because she couldn't bed other men. But all you saw was a belly roll when her stupid little tiny top rode up. No fat chicks for these gals.
Other things that were annoying - Miranda looking for an apartment: "There's a white guy with a baby! Follow him, because that's where I need to be!". No Asian neighbors for these gals either, apparently.
And the catatonic Carrie, please. She was a bizarre looking bride. The dress didn't seem to fit at all in the bust, the bird in the hair was ugly, and her makeup was so harsh and made her looks so old.
Season 1-6.1 were fantastic .. it just bugs me that they ruined it.

I've never watched the show, but I watched the movie on the plane home yesterday.
And yeah. Wow. Between the anti-feminist stuff (all girls are princesses and want princes! OMG shoes n' bags! Eyeeew, you're FAT!) and the just-borderline-racist stuff (black girls are SASSY! Chinatown is SCARY!).... It sucked! And what a waste of Jennifer Hudson.
The message I took from the movie was that it's okay to cheat... not okay, really, but that it's something that "just happens" because people can't control their urges. As long as you still REALLY LOOOOVE someone, treating them like shit is okay. (Despite the fact that if you treat them like shit/disrespectfully, you obviously don't REALLY LOVE them.)
And I want to punch Mr. Big in the nuts. What a fucking asshole.
