A couple of Irish film critics mentioned they found Alice Eve character racist because she was an Irish peasant girl stereotype.
I haven't seen it but is she very Oirish? Calling your Irish character 'Erin' isn't a great sign (like calling an English character 'Britannia').
(Also I like Alice Eve but I'm getting pretty tired of Hollywood always casting Brits when they want to portray Irish types).

I think she was Irish solely so Samantha could make the remark, "Erin go braless." So, basically, yeah.

I saw it this afternoon and I liked it. I was expecting much, much worse, so I guess I was just pleasantly surprised. There were a few scenes I didn't care for but overall I liked it. As in the first movie, way too many puns (Erin go braless, Lawrence of my Labia) and too much shrieking, though.

Lawrence of my Labia totally squicked me. I want to see it again because I saw it with my mom and her bff--when I see SATC I want to squeal and giggle at the sex not cringe and wish I could crawl under the seats. I started the tradition of taking my mom to a movie just the 2 of us when I moved back to my hometown last year as a mother's day gift. Julie and Julia was a FAR better mother-daughter flick than SATC. (No, my mother and I do not have hip, cool, 21st century open-about-sex relationship.)

Anyone who thinks that cancer can be cured by vitamins and sunshine really doesn't need the kind of publicity that a film like SATC can bring, IMHO.

I didn't care for any of the Suzanne Somers plugs either. Did she finance the film? For the amount of time that we saw her face she was like the silent fifth member of the group.

I saw this last night and was amazed how packed the theatre was. I thought it was alright. The scene with Miranda and Charlotte was my favourite. I'll also be shallow and admit I loved some of the clothes.

Wow, that karoake scene was unbearable. I loved the show and couldn't wait to leave this. Place was packed last night though.

Like I said to my friend after the movie: If they make ten movies, I'll probably see all of them. But I hope they stop now.
The Middle East thing was unfortunate. It wasn't serious enough to actually make a point, and making slapstick out of the relationship between men and women in a country where men are legally allowed to hit their wifes, and women who report rape are risked being charged with illegal sex, is just plain wrong. And the "just like us!" thing they did in the end with the reveal of the designer clothes? "Who needs equal rights - we have Louis Vuitton underneath our Burkas!" So offensive.
And don't even get me started on the "Lawrence of my labia" thing.
And really - to paraphrase How I Met Your Mother - they're too old for this crap. I don't want to see a 50+ woman fucking on the hood of a car. Not because Kim Cattral isn't hot - just that I find it all a bit sad and desperate.
On a shallow note: The first movie I thought that SJP was too skinny. She still is, but now so is Cynthia Nixon. They could both look so much younger with a few extra pounds.

I don't think the shift happened with Darren leaving. Alot of great eps came after. I think My motherboard myself is one of the best, and many others mentioned are in season 4 or later. Not sure when it happened, but the movies do not contain the same humanity the show did. I don't think there's any great mystery why the show went down in quality - the same thing happens to most shows after a while. The writers run out of ideas for storylines, character development and jokes and so all these areas decline.
