I was one of the rare people that thought she was pretty. She wasn't beautiful or anything like that, but she worked with what she had and was cute. But after all the massive weight gain/weight loss and the really unfortunate hair color choices she just looks like death warmed over. She really needs to go back to dark blonde hair and most importantly eat food and take some vitamins. The Oscar and PageSixSixSix pictures are just scary.

Yes. Frightening. This is an epidemic with young Hollywood. i read a story once about how HBO told Jamie Lynn DiScala that the only way she could start work on The Sopranos is if she got well and gained some weight. Hollywood needs to follow that example, to publically say "this is a problem". I can't decide if I think it's because everyone in Hollywood is gay and want the actresses to look like pre-pubescent boys, or if it is simply good ole misogyny, and they want woman to look, and therefore be, powerless and small and frail. Anyway, on to Renee: Her face is puffier than a marshmallow and I fear for her sickly body.

It's so sad to see her succumb to the pressure to be emaciated, she has so much talent (even if she didn't it would be sad). I think it's interesting that the pressure to be very thin only lies on women in Hollywood. I remember at the old board someone told a story about how for that movie Domestic Disturbance Teri Polo, who was quite skinny, was told she had to drop 10 pounds, but John Travolta and Vince Vaughn were allowed to be pretty chunky and no one said one word or cared.

She has a serious problem with anorexia. She strongly resembles Calista Flockhart at her most lollipop-headed. C'mon Renee, even Nicole Kidman is starting to gain back the weight! Really! Calories are cool!! ETA: Sweet Jebus, she looks just awful.

She looks ghastly. That is undeniable. But I saw the video footage of the event, where this photo was taken, and all the press in attendance was telling Renee how spectacular she looked. And she was really eating it up (pardon the pun).
It must be difficult to reconcile that skeletal and sickly-looking body with all the positive reinforcement she gets from the media.

I so want to become a photographer at these types of events so I can yell stuff out like, "Renee! Over here! Renee! EAT A FRIGGIN' SANDWICH!"
God she looks awful. I thought she looked fabulous and something approaching healthy when she gained weight for the Bridget Jones movie. Now she's back to lollypop.

This is so true. My weight has fluctuated all my life. People treat you very differently when your thin, and let me tell you the acting business is BRUTAL about a woman's weight. I was an extra on the set of a movie and was treated like such utter crap when I was at my heaviest. At one point, I was hardly eating and exercising like mad and all people could do was tell me how great I looked.

One of these tabloids had an interview with her "close friend" who said she bases her weight loss on how round her face is and if it's puffy, she continues with her strict diet. Now, if that's the case, I need to go ahead and put her in the Death Pool because those cheeks aren't going anywhere. Her face will always be round no matter what she weighs! I've never heard of a more ridiculous thing in my life.
I've got a soft spot for her since she was in "One True Thing" and I love that movie, but I generally avoid seeing anything she is in. Something about her acting style bothers me.

With all the plastic surgery going on, you would think she would get lipo on her face or something, instead of dieting down until we can see where her tendons insert into the bone. eeww.
