Dear Hollywood: A few things. First, if CBS can have their shows on demand the next day and you are able to fast forward and don't have to sit through the same commercials you would have to sit through if you watched the show live, then WHY CAN'T ABC, FOX AND NBC DO THE SAME? On demand doesn't mean I watch the show live, it means I watch the show either without commercials or with limited commercials! Er, Hulu?

Dear Hollywood,
Good job cancelling Unforgettable, Harry's Law and GCB. Lord knows we need more time on the schedule for America's Next Top Mime and Square Dancing with the Stars, so someone has to make the tough decisions. And we need more room for Rules of Engagement reruns. You can never have too many Rules of Engagement Reruns. Might I suggest a great new reality show? It's called Ow, My Balls! I'm sure Courtney Stodden or that ex-wife of Lorenzo Lamas' who wears the lucite heels everywhere can host. Or maybe you can just televise executions. That should rake in the viewers that the Big Three are losing to HBO and AMC.

WHAT? They cancelled GCB? Shit, I thought that show had great potential and it was silly, wicked fun. I've never seen Harry's Law, but I think I would have liked it. Didn't it initially run against CSI? This seems like fighting for the same viewers.

It was, and then they moved it to Sunday opposite Once Upon a Time. NBC clearly didn't give a shit.

It's all about money and the sad truth is that scripted shows are more expensive to produce than reality shows.

The thing with Harry's Law is that it was NBC's highest rated drama or one of them at least. Even with them moving it around and giving it zero promotion. Of course it wasn't the right demographic and ratings were still low because everything on NBC has low ratings. But still if they can't figure out how to make money off of their highest rated drama that then it is no wonder the whole network is sinking.
On a related note, Dear Hollywood: even though I am a member of your coveted demographic you really do not have to make every tv show for me. Older people watch tv too and they are probably the most likely not to fast forward through the commercials. A few more shows that are not about hot young twenty-somethings would not kill you.

This is true. Why pay actors and writers when you can get a whole herd of attention whores who would do it for free if it meant having a TV camera on them. And of course, there's plenty of mentally ill and addicted people out there to exploit as well (Hoarders, etc.). At this point they might as well sink. Cable has pretty much taken over. Oh, but Two and A Half Men has been renewed, I'm sure everyone was concerned about that.

It was like Desperate Housewives and Dallas had a baby.
Dear Hollywood,
You have bad taste in television shows.

In the movie "To Die For" Nicole Kidman's character says, "You're not anybody unless you're on TV," hence reality shows.
