I think that's a starvation diet, just personally. The corset thing, I've had pitched to me at a hair salon, it sounds awful.

I don't know if Holly nursed her baby, but there's no way a mother could produce enough milk for her baby on 1100 calories a day. Breast feeding made me ravenous in a way I never was during pregnancy. I don't understand the "I must get back into a bikini ASAP" mentality either, but I'm not a playboy model. I could totally relate to, say, Jennifer Garner, who emphasized that she wanted to nest and nurse her babies and losing baby weight was on the back burner for several months.

I'll never forget reading an article about Kate Hudson's post-pregnancy diet after her the birth of her first baby. For breakfast she'd have a fruit smoothie which consisted of a shot glass full of berries. The recipe actually said "1 raspberry, 3 blueberries..." I remember that. She had to lose all of her baby weight super fast in order to shoot Skeleton Key. That diet sounded absolutely dreadful. Holly's whole job is looking good in (next to) nothing. If she's not thin, she's not working. Such is the life of people who earn their living being pretty. Jennifer Garner took her time because she could afford to.

There are starving women in refugee camps who still produce breast milk. I have an anorexic relative who breastfed three children while probably eating no more than 1100 calories daily. Lots of women will stop lactating at that stage but some don't.

The body will leach nutrients, such as calcium, from the mother's body for the breast milk. That's why the old wives' tale used to be one tooth for each baby.

Interesting. I've always wondered vaguely if anorexics could nurse. (Usually while breastfeeding and eating a large sandwich over the baby's head at the same time...)

Snooki is looking fit!She has saved herself a lot of future grief by starting a healthy lifestyle in her 20's. With her, the biggest motivation is probably her height (or lack of it). It's harder for her to get away with an extra 15-20 pounds, health wise and appearance wise. Well, there's also the money to be made. With the reality TV mindset, I'm sure that thought is never far from her mind.

I'm watching Masterchef, and I remembered hearing that the thin, bald, critical judge Joe Bastianich used to be really big, so I got curious and looked him up: Joe in 2002

I read his biography Restaurant Man and he is a very disagreeable man. Exchanging out the before and after bodies literally puts a new face on the story. He was absolutely affected by having a famous, talented, well respected and beloved mother who was an icon in the food business. He came off as a smarmy, whiny, know it all brat...and he wrote the book!

Yeah, he has always come off as a pretty unpleasant person and a know-it-all/windbag when I have seen him on TV. I wonder what her daughter is like? She always seems nice enough when she shows up on her mom's show.
