Despite being completely batshit, MacEmm from Jamie O'Neill's At Swim, Two Boys is my literary boyfriend. Well, right behind Hareton Earnshaw. How can anybody give a crap about Heathcliff when sweet, sweet Hareton is there washing his face and learning to read to impress young Catherine? Maybe I'm a little nuts, but it beats out spousal and child abuse any day in my book.
And, because Harry Potter references are pretty much mandatory on any book crush list, the oldest three Weasley boys, Remus Lupin, Sirius Black and Oliver Wood would be my characters of choice.

Yeah, the romance between Hareton and Catherine II was way more to my liking than Heathcliff/Catherine I. Although I didn't crush on him or anything. But I really disliked Heathcliff.

Before I read Wuthering Heights, I was convinced that I would adore brooding Heathcliff. At first, this was true. The scene between him and Cathy as she is dying was awesome. Then, it became more and more obvious that the book was a really twisted and dark tale of revenge. Not a love story for the ages. Heathcliff was a total jerk!
My biggest literary crush (these days) is Jonathan Goldman from Barbara Trapido's books Brother of the More Famous Jack and The Travelling Hornplayer. Something about him is so sexxxy to me. Maybe it is because he quotes (not quite correctly) poetry between the sheets.
I also developed quite a crush on Josh Chalfen from Zadie Smith's White Teeth.

Although, as been said before, you know he and Maudie were a bit more than neighborly. How could that be? Wasn't she quite a bit older than him? That relationship wouldn't make sense. (If I'd been older when first reading the book, I'm sure I'dve crushed on Atticus, too.)

I've been addicted to Phil Rickman's books for years now, and I love his Rev. Merrily Watkins series. I have a girl crush on the Rev. herself, but definitely have a crush on Lol Robinson, her tortured, musical boyfriend. The comparisons to Nick Drake probably help some, too.

David Petrakis from Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson is the sweetest guy ever. You just know that he'd be a total heartthrob (in a good way!) once he got past that awkward stage. Like, say, at age 25...not too young for me...in an alternative universe where book characters become real, I mean (I'm not delusional or anything, don't worry!).

I still have a thing for Gilbert Blythe and I'll always have a thing for Mr. Darcy. I also adore Joe and Ranger from the Stephanie Plum series.
In dull moments at work I sometimes find myself wondering who I'd pick if I could actually have any of them.

How could I forget Joe and Ranger from the Evanovitch books! A friend buys all of them then passes them on to me. After I've finished we have (rather lengthy) discussions about which one we'd stick with if we were Stephanie Plum! We go back and forth about it, like it's an actual real-life choice to be made. (Currently I'm all about Ranger.)

Another Heathcliff lover here. Thats my classic crush. If I am going with the more summer reading set, than Mitch Rapp from the Vince Flynn novels is my man. He's badass and in my mind looks like Eric Bana did in Black Hawk Down.

Jonathan Strange from Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell, and not just because I totally pictured him as Damian Lewis while reading.
