I could see something short-lived with Luna, only because I don't think Harry "gets" her quite yet.

So I could see some sort of flirtation or a short-lived romance, but it would end because of Harry's confusion and inability to figure out how he could be attracted to someone so weird.

However, I could see something long-term once Harry gains some maturity, or even after he suffers more losses and stops caring about stuff like that. Maybe in book seven (because isn't there another death in book six? My money is on Dumbledore - he has to die at some point. He's Harry's Obi-Wan and he has to kick the bucket so Harry faces Voldemort alone) or at the end of the series - if Harry survives, that is.

I don't like the idea of a Harry/Ginny pairing. I could see something briefly happening, but I think Ginny has already started to outgrow her crush on Harry. Plus with Ron and Hermione so obviously destined to some sort of pairing, I don't want to see both of them with a Weasley.

Wow. Thank god. I couldn't sleep at night wondering what the Vatican's offical thoughts were about Harry.

Didn't Rowling say in an interview once that the person Harry would end up with was mentioned in Book 1? If not Ginny - I think Susan Bones is another option - I think she was one of the only non-essential students identified in the first movie.

It's probably nothing but I guess it's worth tossing out there (if what I think I remember is actually true and I'm not just crazy!).

I may be in the minority here, but I really want Harry to end up with Ginny. Luna amuses me because she reminds me A LOT of the "weird girl" I went to high school with, but I don't think that's the type of girl Harry wants/needs. Ginny is a lot like Cho in a lot of ways...particularly the ones that attracted Harry to her, IMO. Cute, popular, interested in Quidditch...

A lot of people say Neville and Luna are destined for one another, something I have an easier time imagining. IIRC, JKR shot down some of the 'ships on her website, saying they definitely won't happen. Now if only I could remember which ones!

As you can see, I've given this way too much thought. It's only going to get worse from here, though.

I don't think that Harry will end up with anyone. Can't imagine that the romance factor is too important to Rowling when it comes to Harry. Then again, I'm one of the few people who think that Harry will die in book 7 (there, I said it!). How will JK Rowling ever be able to write a non-HP book if she keeps Harry alive?

Well, I accidentally ran across a few spoilers yesterday. Damn those people who sold the book early!!! One of them was in regards to who Harry will start to date. Grrr. I am going to take it with a grain of salt, obviously. I am pretty sure that it has since been erased. Still . . . why do people insist on posting spoilers without any warning?

I used to be convinced that Harry was a goner. Now? It would just be so unfair (waaa)!!!!!!!! Let the boy have at least a few years of happiness!

She could just not write about Harry. All she has to do is stop.

She'll never be able to publish anything else under JK Rowling though. It would be best if she uses a different pen name and her true identity kept under wraps until after whatever she writes is released. I think I read that once the Potter stuff is done she wants to write stuff geared towards older audiences.

That's how I feel. It would be such a downer if he ends up taking a dirt nap after all this because his life has totally sucked. Yeah, his life got better once he was able to get away from the Durseys, but he's operating under some pretty heavy-duty stuff and there's some evil wizard who's been trying to kill him for the past several years. That' a lot for a kid to handle.

It would be one thing if he was happy, had a great life, but had to set all that aside to do battle with Voldemort, but after all he's been through, he deserves a break.

Even though the strangle hold known as the lawyers for JK Rowling and Scholastic (at least here in the US)have put a stop to any and all posting of spoilers that havent been released by JK herself. Like when Ain't it Cool got the titles to all 30 chapters and had to pull them in a matter of minutes due to impending lawsuits of Doom!I am aching for spoilers, even though i have been pretty spoiler free throughout the series, i still read speculation, most of which pans out but i am so pent up for the next 34 or so hours. though i am betting in the days after july 16th this thread will sink slowly since we are all reading the book and not posting.
