What? I can't let some people live in suspended animation? I am a little leery of this. What does this mean, the other people age but don't accomplish anything till you play them?

Yeah, I liked the sound of that at first (I'm lazy and it takes too long to load other lots), but let's say I want a particular household to have x number of kids, I'm still going to have to play that lot. Meanwhile, my other lots are going to be aging without me.

Hopefully you can freeze aging like you can on the current Sims...

How do you freeze aging on the current Sims!? Did that come with an expansion pack? (I only have University and Pets.) I have my sims drink lots of Elixir of Life, but one of them drank too much of it and now she glows.

To turn off aging on a lot, while in play do CTRL+shift+C then in the window type "aging off" and hit return. To turn aging back on do "aging on."
You can do this regardless of what packs you have. There's a bunch of other cheats like it too... "rosebud" for example, gives you a bunch of money... I think $40,000.

I think there's some sort of cheat that you can enter that stops your Sims from aging. I'm not sure what it is, though.
(Hamatron beat me!)
They'll probably have some sort of option, or another cheat, in The Sims 3 where you can stop the neighborhood from aging when you don't play them. I'm really, really excited about it though, because a) I only play like, one or two families at a time and I don't want to have to play all the other families to have them keep up, and b) I hate when my teenage Sims grow up and their childhood friends are still children. It just seems like they're gonna make The Sims 3 so much more realistic, which is what I want. And the screenshots of the neighborhood and downtown areas look amazing.

Thanks guys! I know about "rosebud/motherlode" and "move_objects" but I never heard about the aging one! I'll have to try that out. I'm super excited for Sims 3 too. Short people! I can finally make a realistic version of myself.

The graphics look amazing. From the pics of the different Sims, they looked so real. With Sims 2, after a while, everyone looks the same. It seems like the new Sims will have a lot more distinguishing features.
I'm kinda iffy on the aging the other lots feature and hope that there is an aging off option. It does get annoying in the Sims 2 that the other lots are "stuck" while some others age faster. However, you can go back to it at anytime.

Did anyone get the Apartment Life EP? I thought Free Time was supposed to be the last until Sims 3, but apparently not. I just got it, mainly for: the witches! I've already made Best Friends with the Sims equivalent of the Wicked Witch of the West. I'm not sure what will happen next, but it seems pretty cool so far. ETA: I am now an Atrociously Evil Witch! Yay! Could do without the green skin, though.
